As further proof of the absolute importance of utilizing this secret to build wealth, Napoleon Hill offers this qualification. (Note that the names Hill refers to here are those listed in his original preface, which were discussed in the last blog entry.)
“These names represent but a small fraction of the hundreds of well known Americans whose achievements, financially and otherwise, prove that those who understand and apply the Andrew Carnegie secret, reach high stations in life. I have never known anyone who was inspired to use the secret, who did not achieve noteworthy success in his chosen calling. I have never known any person to distinguish himself, or to accumulate riches of any consequence, without possession of the secret. From these two facts I draw the conclusion that the secret is more important, as a part of the knowledge essential for self-determination, than any which one receives through what is popularly known as ‘education.’”
The Secret Path Of Success
What does this mean for you on your path to successful wealth creation? It means that if you do not have what it takes, which is in this book called ‘the secret‘, then you cannot build wealth. This does not mean you cannot create wealth if you have not yet managed to do so, it means you have to take steps to figure out what that secret missing element is. Hill has provided you with this information, and we present it for your success here.
It also means that wealth creation is dependent only on this one basic necessity, and that regardless of education or life-station, you can become rich if you educate yourself and learn that one essential factor.
I will see you back here Monday and Thursday every week for the continuation of the Mindset Mastery series.

Nice Site layout for your blog. I am looking forward to reading more from you.

Thanks Tom. I’ll be checking out your site too
It is not just that one must apply the secret but one must also accept the “simplicity” of it.
Any method that teaches you to reach beyond your normal level of comfort is always simple, we however as beings who have not been able to emotionally evolve over thousands of years believe everything must be complicated. Therein lies a clue.
HI Sean
There is a saying, ’simplicity is elegance’ and I have read similar to that statement in a couple of the answers above. Yes we human beings do like to complicate things (not me of course!).
For centuries man has been trying to be ‘enlightened’ by doing this practice and that, going to India to chase the Guru (yes I am guilty of that), living in a cave in the Himalayas in order to discover the secrets of the universe, or maybe he is a scientist who has been searching for the same things in a convoluted way.
Yet it is so simple, and the answer to the universe has been told, by the computer in ‘The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy’. The answer is Number 42(lol).

Indeed! Life wasn’t mean to be hard. There is a very simple solution to every ‘problem’.
Again a well presented site.

Hi Sean,
I love that anyone can harness the power of the secret and become successful. You don’t need an advanced education or money to get started. You just need the secret and a willingness to learn and apply the principles of success.
Hi Sean,
The secret is not a secret at all. It is part of the earth and the stars and all living things. It’s amazing that wealth creation is based on this one and only thing. I can’t wait to read more of Sean’s posts so that I can learn more on the secret and on wealth creation.

If the secret can work for everyone, then it can certainly work for those of us who can read, write, speak English, type, use a computer, access books and use the internet… We’re ahead of most already.

You know, I reckon everyone has the potential to ‘have what it takes’, they just have to know that its a real possibility.

Along with the education of the secret needs to be education about that which is non-beneficial. Napoleon didn’t interview successful crime bosses or dictators to find out what made them so successful. My guess is that if he had, he would have found that some of them qualified for mention in this book.

Now you have me hooked. What is “that one essential factor”? I always thought it’s a combination of mindset things, but never could pinpoint just one factor. Or is it the factor “mindset”? Help, please?

I don’t suppose that one essential factor is “mindset mastery”? No, how could I say such a thing!

Hi Renee,
For me, the one essential factor is desire. That full on burning desire when you want something so bad; you’ll do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to get it.
But, I think you need a combination of other qualities to be successful. I just think desire is the first thing.

Hi Sean,
I am learning so much here and not only by the article you have written. I’m learning also by the feedback in the comments. Something that we don’t receive by reading Napoleon Hill’s Think And Grow Rich book.
It’s very interesting that everyone can have a little bit of difference in perspective but can still many times come to still the same conclusion.
Interesting……

The greatest secrets are always the simplest of things. No, life was not meant to be hard. We choose to make it so because either we cannot accept that we are deserving of a good and easy life, or that we are convinced that we are not among the “lucky” few who are so blessed. If only everyone could understand that the Universe loves us and wants us to be happy. We simply have to choose to be that way.
The secret could be many things. It may not even be a secret!
Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, did they become rich because of a ’secret’?
Did Mahatma Ghandi free his people because of a ’secret’?
Did Mother Theresa’s pure compassion and undiluted love flow for the sick and needy because of a ’secret’?
Think of the richest person you personally know (money does not define a person being rich) do they have a ’secret’?
All the principals in Hills book may make up the entire secret, but what is smackingly obvious is that all these people have one thing in common, they all put their deepest desires into ‘action’
Elly´s last blog ..
Well, I have downloaded his book, and this is enough of a teaser to make sure I read it so I really understand the secret. Part of it I think is that pursuit of wealth for wealth’s sake is not the goal. I clicked Seans’ link to read the article about Carnegie – and what he did with his enormous fortune – hint – the same as Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are doing.
