Internet Marketing Competition Launch
This is the official launch webinar of the Learn And Earn internet marketing competition: For A Few Dollars More. Recorded on 14th June 2010.
Videos To Make You A Few More Dollars
Here are some videos that will help you along in the internet marketing competition. They are on older pages of my blogs and are relevant to the For A Few Dollars More competition.
How To Get A Gravatar. This is for your email to be accompanied with an image (Avatar).- How to Comment. This is for those that are not familiar with commenting on blogs. It is basic but handy for beginners. The video runs through the rules for the previous competition (For A Fistful Of Dollars). Only the dates and prize money is different.
- How To Subscribe To Comments. If you want an email notification when someone replies to a blog you commented on, then this is a handy video.
Commenting Rules: For A Few Dollars More
Here are the common sense rules for commenting throughout the 7 weeks of this internet marketing competition. A list of eligible blogs is further down the page.
Join the Facebook Fanpage: Sean Rasmussen Talks.- Read the blog post you comment on.
- Your comment must be relevant to the post and on topic.
- Non relevant comments will be edited out and not counted.
- Short comments will be deleted if they look SPAMMY or FLUFFY.
- You need to use the same name every time you comment so my software will count your comments.
- Use a REAL NAME. Names like “SEO King” & “Avon Girl” won’t be counted.
- Use the same email address every time you comment.
- When posting a comment on one of my blogs for the first time, I need to approve it before it shows up live in the comment view. This is to prevent SPAM.
- If you are under 18 years of age, please get permission from a parent or guardian to compete (just a formality).
- Abusive, defamatory, irrelevant or questionable comments will be removed and not counted.
- Old posts, back dated to the start of the blog, are OK to post on.
- There is no limit to how many comments you can make; just keep the comments relevant.
- Do not post multiple comments in the same thread, unless you are genuinely contributing real content to the conversation.
- Short comments that are obviously posted to get your count up will be edited out and removed.
- Sean Rasmussen’s decision is final and undisputable when choosing the winner.
- Staff and myself are not part of the competition

- I will send the money to the winner ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, as long as the laws of that country allows it.
Blogs To Comment On
These blogs will earn you points for your comments.
- Sean Rasmussen (you are there right now)
- Sean SEO
- Aussie SEO
More blogs will be added to the fold later. All comments from 1st June 2010 until 31st July 2010 will count on all of the blogs added to the list just so you can all have fun competing For A Few Dollars More.
May the best (wo)man win

Great stuff Sean,
Fantastic webinar, I’m ready to give it my best shot (pardon the pun)
It’s fantastic to know the rules and how this competition is geared for the very beginner through to experienced internet marketer. It levels the playing field and helps those who are just starting out. I will be sending some more friends to watch the webinar.

Sean, great webinar, great competition and the rules are clear and easy to follow. Anyone can win this, whether they are a beginner or experienced
I had to comment during the video about being concerned for your health because you always go over with time. I was concerned !! LOL

Hi Sean,

I really like the theme song from ‘A Few Dollars More”, and will have it running through my head for the whole 7 weeks, (with luck).
Thank you for the clear and precise rules, Sean. I think anyone who has used a computer will be able to address themselves to this venture. This is a wonderful start to the next 7 weeks of learning and earning.
I have to agree with Tanny – the brevity of your webinar is a point of mild concern. We shall have to keep an eye on you.

I just learned a new word: Brevity. The English language never ceases to amaze me. I only have the vocabulary of a Man With No Name.
LOL – and now you have distracted me with the thought “hmm… this gives me an insight into ‘brief’-case.”
Enough of that Jo, and get back on track…LOL

Thanks Sean and thanks for the welcome.
Hi Sean,
I’m a newbie & I’m soaking up all of this info.
Congratulations on supplying all this for free.
Have a great evening everyone!

G’day Sean,
I was quite surprised [ almost AGOG ] at the 35 minutes and 9 seconds duration of the webinar, however you got the message across clearly and concisely in your usual very relaxed manner. What a contrast to some USA presenters whose speech tempo can only be described as SUPERSONIC !
The rules are perfectly clear, and as the others above have said suitable for all levels of competitor.
Thanks, mate.
Cheers

Hi Sean,
Fantastic webinar. You’ve given us an amazing opportunity. The next seven weeks can really kick-start our internet marketing success. I’m really looking forward to building some good foundations.
Thank-you again for putting this competition together for us. It really is a win-win situation for everyone who takes part.

I’ve just been browsing all the info, got onto avatar and signed up, then found another sean rasmussen blog or something, its so confusing to know whats a blog whats a twitter whats a digg, whats the difference…..they all seemed to lead me back to seans facebook. so here i am in the blue nowhere, putting it out there, trying to follow the yellow brick road, my mother in law always says it doesnt matter if you get lost as long as you’ve got plenty of fuel..so i’m just cruising looking for a road sign to follow.
Hi Sean
You are definitely a high class Ranger, not a cowboy!. Your webinar is fantastic and easy to understand. The rules have been set out clearly and it is only a matter of following them. I am pleased to see that you didn’t get catapulted into infinity after all. We need you here as our almighty leader!
Looking forward to reading all the blogs and learning new information.

Am a big Clint Eastwood fan too. Hopefully during this competition I can channel a bit of Clint and win.
Hi, Sean,
I am a bit confused by this commenting rule: Leave a comment or feedback on the Facebook Fanpage. Do our comments here under your blog count? Or do we need to go to the fanpage and post comments there with the name of your blog?
Thanks
Tess
Tess, you leave a comment here about the blog, and then go to the Facebook page and leave a comment telling Sean that you posted a comment on that blog and add a link to it.

Spot on. Thanks Elizabeth.

Thanks for stating the blog commenting rules so clearly. Its good to know also that we all have more chances to win as you are dividing the total amount into different prize categories.
Its a great relief to know that you are downloading the webinars after each session so we can watch them again.
Appreciate your efforts in organizing this learn and earn competition. We are all winners in the end so thats the most exciting part.
Looking forward to the next one.

I’m here for learning and earning and have already learned/ earned two great things – one is your other site. Didn’t realize you have aussieseo.com as well. The other, I knew but didn’t remember, is that I have a LinkedIn.com account already. I’m off to a great start!!

Another great thing about posting comments, apart from getting exposure to your site and to you, is you can also practice your copy writing. Copy writing is how you get the reader interested and how you are able to sell someone. So when you are commenting on websites, along with making the comment useful to the conversation, make sure it also piques the interest of the reader; therefore, creating more clicks for you!

I’ve just re-watched the webinar – simple, clear, easy to understand – I like this comp already!
I’m also happy I’m not as disorganised as I thought – *hooray* I already had my Gravatar & many social profiles done.
Now just before I head off for some much needed sleep, after an IM all-nighter (at least there’ll be no hangover with that!..) here is my last burst of creativity for the night/early morning:
While it’s nice to score, just a few dollars more,
That’s not my true fascination;

Cheers & good wishes to all in the comp – lets get even more people involved!
Hi Sean,

I shared your Learn & Earn on facebook at 11pm and within 30mins had a friend decide to join me with this! More the next day too!
I somehow found you (cant remember how – love that) after the first live webinar but have watched the recording and am going through the necessary steps and instructions, which by the way I found simple, concise, thorough and exciting!
If anyone else is having a challenge with gravatar (windows kept closing or getting error messages) do keep persisting.
Looking forward to sharing our journey.
Sean, hope you don’t mind me pointing this out, but the plural of video is videos (no apostrophe).. you did say you would be rewarding “attention to detail”! I used to be an English teacher so you can trust me on this one! It’s the least I can do in return for the knowledge you’ll be passing on to all of us.
Great eye for details Alison. Have you ever considered a job in editing? I’m looking for someone
And attention to detail is always so vital, I’m just embarrassed to admit I didn’t notice that.

well this is easier,i am struggling with the twitter thing, So i thought i had it then it would seem my pic didnt come across from gravatar…will get some sleep (as overrated as it is) and try tomorrow, great to see everyone going for it.

Your pic is shown now! Sleep is definitely not overrated – it helps us maintain focus and drive, something we need when being taught by Sean.

thanks for your suppport for everyone Sarah, you are really onto this thing, i find it hard to get that much time to sit still long enough to read and then write as well, i will be trying to take a leaf out of your book.
I always find it difficult and a bit disheartening, especially when I see the tally of points and the people in the lead taking such a lead but I always come back and give it my all.
I love supporting others as I know how important it is. For a few dollars more I would love to have support closer to home but enjoy having the support of everyone here on the other side of the country or not.
With the internet we can all become friends and share advice on getting to the top so that we can all make a few dollars more. Some may even earn a few dollars more than Clint Eastwood!

Very excited about the possibilities in the next 7 weeks. Your points about being clear on goals, going public with your plans and taking action struck a positive chord with me. It is easy to formulate goals in your mind, but takes a lot more commitment to go public with them – that takes guts. I admire your frankness and honesty and am beginning to see that my dreams can come true too!!
As Napoleon Hill once said – and I don’t quote – with persistence all of our dreams can come true. Keep at it, know you deserve it and whatever you desire will present itself… eventually.
Think and Grow Rich as well as The Magic of Believing are two fantastic reads that reconfirm what it seems most of us already know.

have only today managed to see the video Sean. It is very exciting, I just have not managed to make sense of the whole IM thing so thanks again for the opportunity.
Thanks Sean, Excellent stuff!
I never knew about Gravitar! What a very handy tool!
Keeping all your posts on blogs with the same image, so you don’t have to set one up on every site.
I’ve signed up to that!
I have been looking at IM on and off for some time now and have even considered some of the others IM business deals that are offered but none of them really struck a cord with me until I received the DVD from Sean and then listened to his webinar. I think the fact Sean is a local to WA that makes it seem even more achievable. I am now developing a clear way forward of what I want to do and where I want to be in 5 and 10 years time. Thanks Sean.
I’ve just set my WordPress site to use Gravatars too (Opps, Incorrect spelling on my last post, i should be an a)
If you have a WordPress blog already set up, and it’s version 2.5 or higher. It already supports Gravatars and it’s very simple to do!
1) Login to your Wordpress admin
2) Go to Settings
3) Go to Discussion.
4) Scroll to the bottom and you should see a heading for Avatars, in there is the option to use Gravatars!
For more info you can also go to http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Gravatars
Woohoo! You inspired me to check on that and I see I do already have it in place but that enticed me to get ComLuv installed too. I do have to upgrade by Wordpress for ComLuv to work so I’m doing that now. Thanks for the information Duncan.
Sarah Butland´s last blog ..The Magic of Believing Review
Well done, Sarah. I love CommentLuv and I am a firm believer in keeping WordPress up to date. The latest version of WordPress as I write this is 3.0 so I hope that is the one you have upgraded to. CommentLuv has a companion plugin that works with Twitter and I have installed that on one of my blogs. You have probably discovered that CommentLuv can list your latest 10 posts from various sites.
Wal Heinrich´s last blog ..Cheapest Granny Flats In Australia
I have indeed upgraded to Wordpress 3.0 and am still finding my way around but love it already because of the ComLuv update. I have not found the companion for Twitter nor realized it will list the 10 latest posts so I thank you for bringing that to my attention. On the hunt now…
Sarah Butland´s last blog ..The Magic of Believing Review
I went to Gravatar the moment the Webinar was over and easily completed that task. I keep wondering if it all is this easy. If so, I should have been doing this long ago. Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find this. I guess, as they say, “When the student is ready, the teacher will come.” I must have not been ready until now.
The Sean With No Name rides again. I am feeling that the competition will be even tougher this time. No matter who wins, in my mind the real winner will be me and all those people who will buy my granny flats as a result of my site reaching #1 on Google after getting all these back links, especially from the other two sites that run commentluv. A few (thousand) dollars more. Bring it on.
Wal Heinrich´s last blog ..Cheapest Granny Flats In Australia
Thanks Sean for the initiation to get my Gravatar as I have successfully accompolished that task (well I think so). I have also joined LinkedIn but am wondering whether I am too much of a small fish for that connection. Well, who knows I might surprise myself one day. Let me say nothing ventured nothing gained.

As long as there are people like Sean in the world who continue to feed us we’ll become whales soon enough.
I know I’ve already jumped to a bigger fish tank a couple of times and this one is getting pretty stuff, too.
We all start somewhere and if LinkedIn is where we spread our fins then so be it.
Sarah Butland´s last blog ..A House of Straw
I have got my own Gravatar now although it’s not as cute as some other ones above. Thanks for sharing that with tip us. I have also saved your other sites to my Favourites and will be going through them.
Yey!. Your back…I’m back… I was a little nervous and feeling lost as I haven’t been able to get into the site on facebook. It must have crashed with all the keen learning happening. I have lots of ‘catching up’ to do, but will get there. I’m slowly learning the lingo and appreciate all the input. This is the best way to learn. The comments from everyone are great and assist in the case I’ve missed something. I felt reassured when reading Sarah’s reply to Weng. It wasn’t something Id done.
So happy I could reassure you. We’re all here for different reasons but the purpose is all the same – help each other succeed. Believe in yourself as much as I believe in everyone here and we’ll be fine

I really appreciate the simplicity of this post. Its really clearly laid out, very understandable and fun. I really like Clint Eastwood too, Grand Torino is one of my favourites.

Hopping in to comment here just a bit late. I’m looking forward to digesting the content of this Internet marketing competition over the next few weeks. I must say, Sean, that this is quite generous of you to share your marketing strategies and techniques. However, I’ve found that most Aussies I’ve met on-line since I first started connecting up with them in 2007 are generous to a fault. I won’t mention any names but I’m sure you know quite a few of them seeing as many of them have extolled your virtues over the years I’ve know them. Keep up the good work.

That’s funny, I thought I saw a rule there the other day that said we had to comment on Facebook after commenting on these blogs. I can’t see it there now. Is it me or was there a rule that has since been removed? While I am about technicalities, there is still no commentluv on seanseo. Can we have it please? I do very much appreciate commentluv on the other 2 blogs. Thanks.

Hi Wal
There is Commentluv here. Your comment even has a link to show it
Yes, seanrasmussen.com and aussieseo.com have CommentLuv but seanseo.com does not. I don’t suppose you can change this, now? (drinks)

I’m curious on this one too. Do we need to put the link on Sean Rasmussen Talks every time we comment?

I believe the reasoning behind this is to show your facebook friends the activity to get them interested and join Sean’s page and competition. Remember that the prizes increase if the interest increases.
Peak some interest and keep commenting!

Aaah that makes sense as to why we do that. I must say I did post on the Fanpage a few time, but just havent beendoing that lately – so really should. Now that the competition is over halfway and the dollars site is up and running, the prizes come back into the limelight so having more people involved is a great idea as Sean said he would increase the pool.
Well if people cant be bothered reading and working out they have the opportunity to learn heaps, win something and it is free they aren’t the people you want on board. My husband is the biggest pessimist I know and I am still doing this.
Leigh
No amount of pessimism can bring about happiness so I’m glad you’re ignoring your husband’s skepticism and giving this a go. It’s a satisfying happiness when you go against the grain and come out the winner you know you can be.

Hi Sean,
I’ve learnt so much from this already about marketing, wonderful concept, very exciting,
Thanks,Jean
I know I’m a little late to make my appearance into this competition but better late than never I guess. Looking forward to working with you and learning the art of affiliate marketing in the process
Better late than never, Sean. Hey, great name mate!
Hi Sean, Great 1st week of the competition. I am willing and able to learn all about Affiliate Marketing. Thanks for the video’s on obtaining a Gravatar and how to post on blogs.
Do you think it would be beneficial to do a general Marketing course in order to grasp the internet marketing concept?
I look forward to learning from you in the next 7 weeks.
Just hang around for the 7 weeks and you will learn plenty, Mary.
Thanks Sean – Learnt so much already from your tutorials, books, CD etc. Loving this opportunity. And Yay! i have my gravatar!
Sean, thanks again for this comp. It’s really what the doctor ordered and has inspired me into committed action and most of all, fun!
Sean, this competition is so exciting – the more we chase the prize, the more we’re going to lean and earn for ourselves! It’s a win-win for everyone
Thanks for making the time in your busy schedule to offer this amazing opportunity to us.
This is awesome Sean, I’m already learning new things, just made a new twitter account, and linked in, although I don’t know anything about either of these two sites, I can see how they can be powerful for social media!!!!!
keep bringing on the good stuff champ!!
Sean
Hi Sean
Great to see that the “rules” and “steps” to this competition are really just the basic lessons of learning how to participate online – and the building blocks to internet marketing. Great way to teach, Mr Miyagi.

Although I Get lost every now and then, I am just amazed at the amount of stuff you have taught me so far. Still do not understand a lot of things like what is commentluv? what is its function etc. blogs and the like but enjoying the journey. thank you Sean
Basically, commentluv is a blog plugin that allows a link to your last post to be displayed when you place comments on a blog. You will learn more as we progress Becs
Hi Sean, thanks for your very easy “how to” vid on getting a Gravatar. I’ve always wondered how to do this!!
Now I am really impressed, Sean, your “how to” Gravatar blog has been shortened using bit.ly 195 times!! Wow, a great result!!

G’day Sean,
Thought I’d commented on this one before……….Duuuhhh Must be going blonde! Really like the way you have set out the rules – they are very clear and concise
June 28th. Now it’s been running for 2 weeks, it’s interesting to see how some of the participants are deeply involved, commenting and learning every day. Just by reading your blog posts and commenting they are all becoming so familiar with the good things you’ve been teaching.
The more experienced forum members are flying along too, and it’s good to see how our members are assisting with the newbies. As you’ve said frequently, The Best Way To Learn Is To Teach.
Bless you for all this good stuff we’re learning and for your inspiration.
Cheers
Harry

I’ve just been listening through this webinar again. Common sense is a factor in how we proceed through the competition which should go without saying.
In everyday life I have noticed that common sense is not nearly as common as it used to be.
I have been familiar with a larger percentage of what we’ve been doing already with some excellent tips to fine tune technique and now moving into the challenge in particular with linking everything together. So many places to comment and sites like LikedIn, Twitter to include my comments on.
Look forward to the coming webinars to fill in the blanks.
I did not use a gmail account as an email as hadn’t picked up that tip because I didn’t start at the start.
Is it too late to change or best to just continue with the email I used? I have already used it when registering on Digg, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. We have our own domain name so will remain regardless of ISP.
Hello Sean,
Good to see how many people are interested in Sean Rasmussen “For a Few Dollars More” competition….hope that the interest keeps growing over the next few weeks. Image how much we all would have to pay if we were receiving 7 weeks of coaching from a life coach?
Yet if we turn up each and every day and read/lean/educate ourselves along the way – plus having fun – and its for free
Used to think that there was nothing that you could get for free (but a smile)….. this competition has changed my mind on that thought.
Great to find out how to make the internet work the smarter way.
Cheers
Lisa

Great comment Lisa. 7 weeks of life coaching could cost you hundreds or thousands or millions (just kidding on that last one!).
Well it would cost you a treasure chest full of gold and some but we don’t have to pay A Few Dollars More or even A Fistful of Dollars! What are we getting it for?
FREE – Yes that’s right, for free, pay no money now! That’s why we turn up each day or each week to educate ourselves – out of respect for the gift we’ve been offered.
You’re right Bernadette and Lisa – the incentive to join in was prizes, but that’s been lost amidst all the learning and coaching found here, the webinars and FB. So we are all winners.
I have won already. Not just what I’ve learned but a great and growing network of new friends that, I’m sure, is going to be enRICHed long after the competition.
Thanks heaps, Peter.
You’re welcome. As you (and Sarah?) said somewhere T.E.A.M. Working with others always pays off as I usually end up being taught something too.
That’s because everyone has different strengths.
An ideal group includes the ideas people, the ‘knockers’ to pull them apart and the solutions people to put it back together the way it will work.
I agree with many of the comments previously made – that I feel I have already won as regards the learning I’m accumulating and I only joined last week. Many thanks Sean for the opportunity.
The For A Few Dollars More Forum that was available during the Learn and Earn Competition had a lot to offer.
As well as the Zodiacs pounce-on response, Jazz and Helen were fantastic. So on the ball and helpful for new contestants who had lots of good questions to be answered.
Well done ladies!

Just hope all willing participants can now move forward in their lives and prosper from Sean Rasmussen and his team of Prosperity Millionaires.
