Tim Rasmussen Plays Ring Dance

This is my son Tim Rasmussen practicing  Ring Dance on the piano. He is practicing for a competition at the Bunbury Eistedfodd. I filmed this last night as he was practicing. Tim jumped on the piano and played it without any warming up or preparation.

  1. There’s something so refreshing about live music, at whatever standard. Hope he keeps it up as it is a skill to be treasured.

  10. Having raised 2 kids through the musical instrument playing stage, I feel qualified to say that the kids that win the competitions are invariably the ones that do the most practice. So long as they practice the right thing that is.

  11. Wow
Tim, you are fantastic. When can I order your first CD? You are truly talented!

  12. That’s awesome! I’m going to play it for my 9 year old daughter, hopefully it will encourage her to practice more. Well done Tim!

  13. G’day Sean, Cherie and Tim,
That was so nice that I had to hear it twice. Your hand position is very good and from what I remember of the piece from long ago, pretty much note perfect. The run from the treble downwards near the end is quite a tricky little devil, isn’t it. Keep on with it and make that piano SING !!

  14. G’day Sean,
Invitation gratefully accepted. We have family in Perth, so Bunbury is now on the agenda. In fact it has been since getting to know all the lovely YOTA mob.

An important thing to consider is that piano practice is very much like training for sport, and is muscle development for the hands / arms / shoulders as well as training for the ears, the soul, and the emotions. Go Tim Go !!

  21. Wow! Fantastic! How old is he, Sean, and how long has he been playing? He’s definitely got talent and ability! I took piano lessons for a couple of years as a teenager, but couldn’t pick it up. (Which probably means I talked myself out of it!) I’ve always felt that having the ability to play an instrument is definitely an advantage as a means of social interaction. How did he go at the Eistedfodd?

  22. This is beautiful Tim, well done. To learn the piano is one of my goals in life.

What a coincidence. I actually saved this very You Tube to my favourites today and as I was looking back over some of Sean’s posts, I came across “Tim rasmussen plays Ring Dance” again.

I love the way you are nurturing your son’s talent Sean and Cherie. Can’t wait to hear James sometime soon.

  24. I enjoyed the recital and added it to my Youtube favourites during the competition. Tim’s got talent and it’s great to hear him playing again and again. Finding the original post was a bonus.
