The Affiliate Sanction

The Affiliate Sanction is the next step in affiliate marketing. Well… not really but it is the title of today’s webinar and my next Clint Eastwood themed webinar in the Learn And Earn For A Few Dollars More internet marketing competition.

Phew… that was quite a mouthful 🙂

On a sidenote, you will soon be able to book a free seat to one of the seminars I am speaking at in July, August and September. You can see me at the Think And Grow Rich Internet Conference 2010.

Affiliate Sanction – The Webinar

Affiliate marketing was my ticket to success between 2005 and 2008. A few weeks ago I shared some handy tips in Learn Affiliate Marketing. Now, let me share some more tips to help you succeed in The Affiliate Sanction.

Affiliate Marketing Resources

As promised in the webinar, here are some links and resources:

  1. To join the affiliate program, you can either go to the WebVision2020 homepage or go direct to the Affiliate Signup Page.
  2. If you want to see me speak live in Brisbane next weekend (or any other Aussie Capital City) at the Think And Grow Rich Internet Conference 2010, I will have a booking link for you this Monday. Stay tuned!
  3. Remember, you get 10 Points for each successful referral in the affiliate program.

See you back here very soon.

    • Oh yes – I will find out shortly if Stuart Zadel & his partner Jas still need some extra hands to volunteer, but be it as a guest or as volunteer crew, I will be seeing you in Brissie next weekend Sean at the “Think And Grow Rich” Internet Conference 2010! 🙂

  2. Another great production, and nearly as full as the last! I’m really looking forward to your trip to Brisbane. Stuart’s ‘Think and Grow Rich’ Conferences are great!
Affiliations are a wonderful resource – did I say anything that anyone didn’t know? If you haven’t signed up yet, then what are you doing here reading this? Mind you, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.

  6. clem schollum says:

Thanks Sean- action-packed week and what a great end to it- really appreciate all the helpful tips here- thanks for separating out a review site from a niche site, so helpful to have categories and fit things in to a logical order- makes a big difference in my mind to have ‘classes’ to slot things in. easier to make a decision that way i find.
we don’t often wish to be in auz but we’re sorry to not be round in the coming weeks for your talk- am sure it will be great- we’ll have to chug along with the mindset mastery series instead! cheers

  7. Cathy Howitt says:

I’ll book for the TGR conference in Adelaide, so I’ll see you there

  14. Once again a great webinar Sean. Can you literally climb those high snow capped peaks because that is your face isn’t it? I hope to look as exstatic as your teaching brings expertise to what I will eventually be able to accomplish.
Early in the competition For a Few Dollars More I joined as an affiliate at WebVision 2020 should I rejoin or just follow your directions to replace the ending?
I did a review for universal wealth creation at Alexa the day of the webinar the Affiliate Sanction.
I commented on seanrasmussen, social media make money with twitter and did a re-tweet as well.

  15. Wow! I had a comment all typed up and it got lost some where in computer land. Ahh well, here goes my memory testing 🙂

Ack! Don is certainly making me look lazy but I cannot possibly wake up for the webinar’s and have to depend on the recording so I thank you for making them available.

Jazz is a pro at this and making us all look like we’ve given up – I haven’t, just struggling to find the time to do what I want.

The trouble I have with focusing on one product is that I don’t want to depend on that one company being around as long as I want them to be. I did that once with a drop shipping company and was about to quit my job when they went bankrupt! Never again will I put all of my eggs in one basket.

And yet I find it even more difficult to balance the baskets and avoid scrambling the eggs when I have too many. I understand the merit of focusing on one thing so you can do it to the best of your ability but I can’t stay focused on that one task for that long, I have to jump to something new.

Even with being an affiliate marketer for ebooks – I know how fast information can be made obsolete or even change so I don’t want to spend too much time fine tuning a website for one ebook and then have it be useless.

I guess that’s what we’re learning about here, how to choose that one lasting program that will give a good basis and let you work on a few, or even a couple, different things at once.

    • Hi Sarah,
I have been going down a similar path, joining up with numerous programs all which only pay 5-10% with products I couldn’t endorse truthfully as I have never used them, but since being in this competition I think I have had a break through. Good luck with those eggs.
.-= Jackie Stenhouse´s last blog ..Types of Child Anxiety Disorder =-.

      • Thanks Jackie. Sometimes it’s a bit overwhelming but normally, with proper sleep and support, I can excel and realize often that I have accomplished so much already.

With the teamwork of Sean’s competitors I know we’ll all succeed in whatever we decide to do.
.-= Sarah Butland´s last blog ..River’s End Was Brilliant! =-.

    • Hi Sarah,

I agree with you, it’s a tricky balance. One egg can be risky, too many eggs get extremely difficult to handle.

My take is to start with one product, market it, get to know the process of how to market it successfully etc and have that one grow. Once that is working ok I will have a bit more free time again and can start of with the next product. That way I get several eggs without having to pay maximum attention to all at the same time.
.-= Renee´s last blog ..Definition Of Motivation =-.

      • I love scrambled eggs but when it comes to making money I want my eggs to be far superior than any egg you’ve ever had.

I think what Sean is trying to teach us through Learn and Earn is to start with one money making project and get it right, then move on to only one or two more. That way we have our footing and practice with one that’s making us money but securing ourselves in case one stops.
.-= Sarah Butland´s last blog ..River’s End Was Brilliant! =-.

        • Your right, and if we choose the right programs to market and do it properly, we won’t need hundreds of products. By the way I love your avatar. Is that your baby? Definately a scholar in the making.
.-= Jackie Stenhouse´s last blog ..Types of Child Anxiety Disorder =-.

          • That’s my baby at 2 months old! Can you tell I’m passionate for books and literacy?

(You can vote for this picture at http://photocontest.babystages.ca/en/vote/ballot.php?photo_id=157864 to be on the cover of a magazine!)

I guess I’ve become accustomed to having lots of products on one page but it may seem overwhelming to the customer. I’m discussing now the possibility of selling all the ebooks we’ve gathered through the years and am stuck. I don’t want one site per ebook – that would be thousands of sites to maintain and website addresses to pay for – but if we put a lot of them on one site it becomes difficult to target key words.

This is what I’m trying to sort out… soon.

  16. I quite enjoyed “The Affiliate Sanction” webinar on Friday even if it was too early for a wee dram of single malt.

Today I finally got around today to promoting the The Ultimate Twitter Guide and the Learn and Earn Forum on Twitter, Plurk, Identica, Facebook and via email. I’m amazed at the conversion rate I’m getting. I guess it helps to beg. 🙂

I don’t know how many times I’ve said this before, but the Learn and Earn competition is a blast. I’m learning (I think), having fun (I know) and meeting all kinds of amazing people (I’m pleased). Bless you all.

And of course, we should all be Grateful We’re Not Dead. 🙂

  17. This was a fantastic webinar which added another piece to the puzzle. I am slowly getting the full picture put together. I love the fact that you have added this next part to the competition as this allows us to put into practice with a product people “should” gobble up for free.

  18. Hi Sean
I was working and missed out seeing the webinar, thanks for making it available.

It’s great that you are offering everyone the opportunity to start seeing how selling an affiliate product works.

You explained very well how to find the affiliate link, how to choose how to promote it and where to go to see results.

  19. Hi Sean,

thanks for a great webinar – and thanks for doing all the extra work of recording it!

This webinar is a great introduction to how affiliate marketing can work and that you have more than one option to make it work. So everybody can find the best suited method for him/herself.

I haven’t been very successful with my conversion rates up to now, but I am here to learn 🙂

  20. The Affiliate Sanction Webinar was awesome!

Thanks for another great webinar Sean, I am really enjoying the new ways to score points with Alexa reviews although scoring with the affiliate program may be a little harder than I first anticipated. It’s all fun & games at the end of the day & it’s such a cool way to learn!

  21. The Affiliate Sanction video was great! Lots of fun to be had this week getting as many people as possible to the affiliate program.

Looking forward to what comes next!

  22. Hi Sean

I did post a reply but my computer lost connection at the time and I realise it did not go through. Better late than never then.

Thankyou for another great webinar, it is getting very exciting as we near the finish line. It is just on 5 weeks now with only 2 weeks to go. There may be a few surprises in store for all of us.

  23. Elizabeth says:

I really enjoyed this Webinar, as I have enjoyed all of them. I’m working as hard as I can to learn all I can in the time we have left. And, of course, I’m working also at making points. 😀 I’ve written another blog and included links in it, then advertised it on both of my facebook pages, (personal page and business fanpage), and Twitter. 😀 Hopefully I’ll get lots of response from that.

  24. Thanks Sean!
Enjoyed catching up on “The Affiliate Sanction” webinar & will watch it again soon.

Took lots of notes & reminded myself to FOCUS in ONE direction, on ONE product at a time, instead of having a dozen links out there in cyberspace at once, achieving very little success due to my lack of focus & drive at the moment…

But I did knuckle down this morning to send out emails & some ads featuring my new “dollars” link! Hopefully that gets a good response & I will focus more on promoting that this week.

Also looking forward to seeing you speak at Think And Grow Rich on Sunday & hopefully get to meet up with some of the Brissie members of the For A Few Dollars More comp! Cheers 🙂

  25. The webinar gave me plenty to think about concerning my websites and how best to adapt them or completely change them to fit into one or more of the three options – review, dedicated or niche. I think it will be a big job!

    • Most likely a huge job but one that will pay you back again and again. I hate working to make someone else money, would rather put a lot of time and effort into pocketing the few dollars more myself.

Affiliate marketing is great as a first step as you can learn and earn from it but my long term goal is to write my own products and have others sell them for me. Putting in the effort now will free up time for my true passion later.

  26. Hi Sean,

This was another amazing installment in the Learn and Earn Competition. I’m really looking forward to taking on the affiliate program. Once I overcome that, it’ll mean a huge step forward for me.

I can’t wait to see what you have for us next week. This competition keeps on getting better and better. 🙂

  27. Surprise – I seem to be up to date with everyone rather than being weeks behind but I will now need to do some reviewing of past videos, as I watched quite a few over the week-end.
Thanks again Sean for this information with many useful tips and pointers for us.

  28. Have the affiliates brought the WebVision2020 server to its knees. I was sending out emails this morning promoting my affiliate link. I started getting replies that they couldn’t access the signup page. I checked and it appears that all the WebVision2020 pages are unavailable. I get a “The connection was reset” message when trying to access anything on the site.

    Hi Sean,
thanks for the excellent webinar on affiliate marketing, you explain everything so clearly and make it so easy to understand.

  34. tony shirren says:

The more I learn the more I realise I’m doing everything wrong or back to front , I guess thats one advantage not having visitors yet I can keep changing and improving the site until I get it right .

    • I agree with you Tony. The more I learn in this comp, the more I know I have to go back and re-think my blogs and websites.

The keyword information alone has got my work cut out for me as I need to review that strategy all over again!

The good thing is that it doesn’t set one back, but moves our efforts forwards.

Fine tuning is all a necessary part of the activity towards being successful

      • I love this information and all the webinars as I wrote my blog out of enjoyment and had my fingers crossed people would find me, like my work and buy my books. Now I’m seeing a whole new side, that’s still subtle, in making money and am taking full advantage.

The affiliate sanction is helping me decide on what products to sell and to settle for nothing less than 40% for the most part. Although I’ll always sell books through my site (it is a review site) no matter the commission, I know to look for more competition and other ways to sell products I’m passionate about.

Going back through my blogs is not only getting me back on track but inspiring me and providing me with more ideas on where to go from here.
.-= Sarah Butland´s last blog ..Internet Marketing at it’s Finest =-.

        • Oh, what sort of books do you review Sarah? My personal site is about top fiction books and authors to read for fun and relaxation at http://www.readingbooks-4fun.com
It has a page rank of 3, though I have neglected it since the comp started, so the Alexa is going back up and not down!

          • Every book I read I review (children’s books are on another site) although not as extensively or as regularly as your site (I took a peak, saved it as a favourite for future).

The affiliate sanction comes in handy when you’re reviewing and I think your site is excellent for being an affiliate site as you have it very well organized. Mine just started simply as an outlet for me to post about my books and writing career etc and turned into a way to keep track of what books I’ve read.
.-= Sarah Butland´s last blog ..Kelly Moran Took Me On Summer’s Road =-.

          • @ Sarah. It is a site I enjoyed setting up, but as I said, a bit negelected at the moment.
I intend to give it a major overhaul some time in the near future and see if I can monetize it better. Hopefully, many of the tips learned here, and if applied well, will help it get more buying traffic!

  35. Very interesting Webinar. The Affiliate Sanction webinar is a whole new thinking for me. I know I am struggling but anything learned is one step up. Thanks for the hand up, not a hand out Sean.
