Five Minutes to Unlock Your Motivation
March 23rd, 2008Inspired by a recent review (of this blog) by Stumbleupon legend Bleem-Filk, I’ll jump into a “Five Minute A Day” motivational post.
Got five minutes to spare? Of course you have!
If you want to achieve your goals, you need a drink of that elusive tonic called: Motivation. To get motivated, you will need about 5 minutes per day to kick it into action. Whether you want to admit it or not, you have five minutes to spare right now. And with those five minutes, you could either choose to sulk about something in your busy lifestyle or you could start getting on the road to success. All it takes is five minutes of willpower to begin pumping up your internal motivation.
Here’s how:
Start by listing the things you want to achieve in your life. These could be big things or little things; Lifestyle, wealth, travel, health, achievements, it doesn’t matter. You can even write them down on slips of paper for the next step. Choose just one of these things and then list the steps it will take in order to achieve that goal. The steps should be super tiny so that you aren’t feeling overwhelmed and ready to give up.
Unlock your motivation
For example, if you want to clean your house, you might want to simply start by opening the door of the room that you want to clean. Sounds silly, right? But creating these tiny steps, you will encourage yourself to not only get past the initial hesitation, but also to get started on the things you really want to do. Most people will find that they don’t just want to do the little steps; they also want to do more and before you even know it, you have the room cleaned and you’re ready to start on the next. The initial five minutes of doing this is the key to unlocking your motivational drive to carry on.
Get the momentum happening!
You need to give yourself five minutes to begin the task. You can even get out a timer to make sure you are doing something related to the task within that timeframe. If you want to go longer, that’s fine, but commit to those five minutes. You can easily fit these five minutes into your morning or right before you go to bed. Just fit them into your life somehow.
You might be surprised at what you can do. You are building up momentum and motivation and from there, you can do anything. The results you will reap from investing these “Five Minute A Day” will return you a handsome dividend in the shape of lifestyle, motivation, happiness and fulfillment.
Have a most outstanding day
