When A Nation Cries
July 3rd, 2008Tonight I watched a CNN video of a woman dying in a hospital while 2 security guards casually watched on and a nurse went up to the lady and kicked the dying woman to see if she was dead. Ever since I was a child I have heard appalling stories of the 3rd world status of the US health system and this one made me sick to the core. To think that any human could have so little compassion for another is nothing less than nausiating.
Only days ago, on the news, I saw a New York pensioner get run over by a car. The car drove on and people walking by seemed somewhat Un-Touched! So, I ask those who live in this country of ours: Be Grateful! We have not fallen that low yet. AND don’t let it happen. Remember, we are humans - Not Animals!
Hierarchy Of Values
This brings me to ask the Dr Demartini question: What are the Hierarchy Of Values for a government that allows such disgraceful acts to happen? A person (or government) will act according to their hierarchy of values. If oil and meglomania is the top priority and their health system comes second, then woe for the poor citizen.
I certainly know the Australian governments of the past have been no angels. They prostituted themselves to such a degree, they allowed over 20 Foreign Nuclear Tests on Australian soil and thousands of citizens have suffered the consequences. The prime minister even got Knighted! Common citizens would have got Treason for less than that!
During wartime, we knew our enemies. After the war, we suffered nuclear bombings by our “Allies” that leaves radioactive residue of our soil for an estimated 500,000 years!
Mass Destruction Of World Starvation
Getting back to the topic; someone’s daughter, someone’s mother, someone precious was allowed to die in a hospital emergency room. Chances are that she probably wasn’t wealthy, hence didn’t earn the carefactor of the heartless Profiteers in charge. One would be excused to ask this question:
Is spending a Trillion dollars on bringing down a dictator ( installed and supported by the same government ) and imposing Mass Destruction on that nation and its citizens really justified when your own citizens have a sub standard health system? Maybe I’m wrong here but the picture painted to the rest of the world isn’t exactly rosy. Credibility is flying out of the window faster than you can say Haliburton or Bechtel. In the process, the current (outgoing) US President has accumulated more national debt than the previous 41 Presidents between them. To such a degree that the worlds starvation could be stemmed for 12 months on one year of the US military budget.
Conveniently It was announced yesterday that the “assigned” Iraqi government are allocating major oil contracts to 6 US oil companies to do what the disposed dictator would not let them. Hmm… Lucky for Dictator, Robert Mugabe that Zimbabwe don’t have abundant oil resources.
Wouldn’t it be nice to allocate some of the spoils towards helping the citizens at home…
When A Nation Cries
In 1985 John Mellencamp released a great album named “Scarecrow”. It was my favorite album for many years. The lyrics of one track in particular comes to mind. Not until recently have I really grasped his message from the lyrics. I will let you work it out yourself. The lyrics of the Mellencamp song is below and I have added the YouTube clip for your listening benefit.
Justice and Independence ‘85
He was born on the fourth day of July
So his parents called him Independence Day
He married a girl named Justice who gave birth to a son called Nation
Then she walked away
Independence would daydream and he’d pretend
That someday him and Justice and Nation would be together again
But Justice held up in a shotgun shack
And she wouldn’t let nobody in
So a Nation cried
Oh Oh, When a Nation cries
His tears fall down like missiles from the skies
Justice look into Independence’s eyes
Can you make everything alright
Can you keep your Nation warm tonight
Well Nation grew up and got himself a big reputation
Couldn’t keep the boy at home no no
He just kept running ’round and ’round and ’round and ’round
Independence and Justice well they felt so ashamed
When the Nation fell down they argued who was to blame
Nation if you’ll just come home we’ll have this family again
Oh Nation don’t cry
