So, then, just how did Henry Ford achieve what every brilliant engineering mind in his organization insisted was impossible? How did that “uneducated”, brilliant mind succeed where his engineers only failed?
“The engineers went ahead. There was nothing else for them to do, if they were to remain on the Ford staff. Six months went by, nothing happened. Another six months passed, and still nothing happened. The engineers tried every conceivable plan to carry out the orders, but the thing seemed out of the question; “impossible!”
At the end of the year Ford checked with his engineers, and again they informed him they had found no way to carry out his orders.
“Go right ahead,” said Ford, “I want it, and I’ll have it.”
They went ahead, and then, as if by a stroke of magic, the secret was discovered.
The Ford determination had won once more!”
That’s It, Determination
That’s it. Nothing mysterious, just sheer determination. Henry Ford refused to accept the impossibility of things. He refused to let other less determined people tell him that what he believed in could not be done. And so we know that determination is one of the absolute keys to successful wealth creation.

To illustrate our last few discussions, Napoleon Hill offers proof in the form of an anecdote about Henry Ford, his visions and tenaciousness.
“The following anecdote is just one example of the “secret” to Ford’s success; the “secret” to wealth creation exemplified by all successful men and women who think and grow rich.
Early in the age of the automobile, Ford decided to produce his now famous V-8 motor. He chose to build an engine with the entire eight cylinders cast in one block, and instructed his engineers to produce a design for the engine. The design was put on paper, but the engineers agreed, every one of them, that it was simply impossible to cast an eight-cylinder gas engine block in one piece.
Ford said, “Produce it anyway.”
“But,” they replied, “it’s impossible!”
“Go ahead,” Ford commanded, “and stay on the job until you succeed no matter how much time is required.”
This is the point where most men would fail to even try because they couldn’t perceive the possibility of such a monumental task. Ford left his engineers no option (save quitting him). And so they went on to tackle the task even they thought impossible. But Henry Ford pushed them to achieve it. We’ll read more about the outcome in later posts. For now, stop and think a minute—how far back in time would we now be if the greats like Henry Ford didn’t exceed the vision of the average man?

As you’ll remember, we’ve been talking about the intimate familiarity human beings have with the word “impossible” and how we apply our own failure consciousness to the potential of all people, everywhere.
“This same perspective is what we apply to human abilities across the board. We refuse to believe what we do not understand. We foolishly believe that our own limitations are the proper measure of human limitations. To be sure, it must be the other person’s diction that is “off,” because it is not the same as our own.
Since the dawn of the modern automobile industry, millions of people have looked at the achievements of Henry Ford, and envy him because of his good fortune, or luck, or genius, or whatever it is that they credit to Ford’s success and subsequent wealth. It may even be that one person in every hundred thousand knows the secret of Ford’s success, and those who do know are too modest, or too reluctant, to discuss it, because of its simplicity. “
Simplicity is the beauty of the ability to Think and Grow Rich. The path to wealth creation is simple, but you have to adjust your attitude towards what is possible and stop thinking that riches are an impossibility just because you’ve yet to secure them.

This is the question Hill poses, and goes on to explain that education is not the determining factor in successful wealth creation.
What is education, anyway? …
“As far as schooling is concerned, many of these men had very little. John Wanamaker once told me that what little schooling he had, he acquired in very much the same manner as a modern locomotive takes on water, by “scooping it up as it runs.” Henry Ford never reached high school, let alone college. I am not attempting to minimize the value of schooling, but I am trying to express my earnest belief that those who master and apply the secret will reach high stations, accumulate riches, and bargain with life on their own terms, even if their schooling has been meager.”
I told you before this theme would be recurring, and it will again after this.
Education Plays A Minor Role
As Napoleon Hill says, no one is arguing that education is useless, but education alone is not enough to build wealth. You must also know the important elements to successful wealth creation, those that are not taught in school. Like Napoleon Hill, we reiterate this point at Universal Wealth Creation and throughout our materials because we know that anyone has the ability to get rich and live better, and we know that you were not given the most effective education for wealth creation at school or college. And that is exactly why books like Think And Grow Rich or Mindset Mastery can be such a help to people. They have the ability to make you realize and discover the information you do need in order to find wealth and success.
