Third World Rights Today, Are Our Rights Tomorrow

May 15th, 2008

Today is ‘Bloggers Unite For Human Rights‘ day. You will read a much different topic here today to what I normally write about. This blog is about Mindset and the power of Motivation. Many of us have the luxury of making our own choices and are fortunate to live in ‘Fortunate Countries’. However, it seems many of us take this for granted and certainly take many of our luxuries ‘in our stride’.

Freedom Of Speech

Freedom of speechFreedom Of Speech is something we take for granted yet it seems most don’t quite understand how much our rights are being undermined, literally by the day, in the western world.

While we are busy watching 3rd world disasters and human rights issues across the world on the news, it seems we have our focuses diverted to areas where we have little power to help. Meanwhile, our very own governments remove more and more human rights from us (gradually of course) until, over a few generations, our rights have ‘de-generated’.

Third World Rights Today, Are Our Rights Tomorrow

How do you think the other places got so bad? Overnight? Hm, not likely! Let’s realise for a moment that the very people you and I voted in, whether it’s the USA, Australia or the UK, are the ones that are creating massive squalor across the world. The further away, the better it seems. Meanwhile, we can comfortably sit in our lounges, eat our dinner, and watch the proceedings on Fox News while our popular ‘pollies’ are supporting criminal acts of war. Of course, most of their own sons are kept at home, because they are above us mere mortals. And someone needs to count the spoils, I guess.

History DOES Repeat

History DOES repeatThe countries that won the wars of the 20th Century had the benefit of heavily influencing the history books for us the learn from. While we seemed to be fighting a thing called Fascism for many years, the world is going down that path again very fast. When the German Reichstag was burned to the ground in the 1930’s, citizens rights were removed very fast with the excuse of protecting them from one ethnic group and certain political alliances.

When the 9/11 attacks happened in 2001, the same thing happened again. Instead of persecuting one people, we just started persucuting another. An eye for an eye - so we kill hundred of thousand of innocent people in retaliation… the mind boggles at how fast people forget!

Once again, credible(?) politicians started a racist persecution and in the process diverted our attention from ourselves to the other side of the world. Then - BANG - away goes the rights! Why? “Because we need to protect you” - Bollocks!

History DOES Repeat. Don’t realize this when it’s too late.

Remember Your Own Rights

Human RightsIn order to help others, we have to also help ourselves. That doesn’t mean we ignore anyone. By all means, stay aware of world events and help where you can. But don’t forget to stand up for your own rights, because when they are gone, you too may be living in another ‘Zimbabwe’ or some country where you may rather not live at the moment.

And next time our own people want to drop Depleted Uranium Bombs, Cluster Bombs, MOAB’s (Mother Of All Bomb’s - can you believe they nick-named it that?) on civilian populations and call it collateral damage…. don’t accept it! Don’t buy the lies! Because next time around someone else will be dropping them in your backyard and someone else will be watching us on TV while microwaving their TV dinner.

The Most Precious Thing In The World

A child is the most precious person in the world to a mother or father. No matter what religion, color, race or belief, we have no rights to take that little soul away from this world. Protect them in the future by protecting yourself now.

Remember to protect your rights. Others took it for granted - and lost it. We are doing the same, right now…

I personally support these charities. Please consider supporting ones of your own choice. I don’t care what you support, just support someone that cares!

Angel Flight, Surf Life Saving Australia, Royal Flying Doctors, Greenpeace

Make yourself heard! No one hears your thoughts. Start by posting a response right here and now. Show me that you, too, care. Thanks!

Next time, I’m back on track again with the ‘Normal’ posts

A tribute to Napoleon Hill - by Sean Rasmussen

April 29th, 2008

This is the intro to the Mindset Mastery eBook. I wrote it as a tribute to one of the foremost inspirations for thousands of self improvement and motivational coaches across the globe.

A tribute to Napoleon Hill - by Sean Rasmussen

Sean RasmussenThe year 2000 was a big year for me. My second son was born, I was constantly working away from home to “make a living” and I was asking a lot of questions about life. “Is this as good as it gets?” I asked myself. My family finances were going backwards and the harder I worked, it seemed, the bigger the financial hole seemed to get.

I would be away from home, at work, for 6 weeks at a time and have 1 week off. I missed my son’s first words, his first steps and didn’t give him the opportunity to call me “Dad” when he was ready for it. On my one week off from work, I’d lap it all up and my heart was torn to bits every time I had to leave again for work. I called work a “Paid Prison Sentence” and vowed to make some drastic changes. Something had to change for me to experience change. I gave myself no option.

When my workmates went to the pub or a concert or anything social after work, I was in my little caravan reading books; Self-help books. 2000 was the catalyst year for my Mindset Mastery to start kicking in. I discovered Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, Anthony Robbins and many more inspiring authors but foremost I found Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

My mind went into overdrive. I had moments of “truth” come to me. It’s something I cannot describe. You will have to experience it yourself. I genuinely hope you discover it and reading this book will help you. The strategies suggested by Mr. Hill have been applied. With a blind faith in my own ability along with further “Financial Education”, I have experienced results I previously only dared to dream about.

I am now an active supporter of many charities, many of which would not benefit from me hadn’t I read Napoleon Hill’s book, Think and Grow Rich. The applied “mindset changes” and “calls to action” that I initiated have made an incredible impact on my personal life, family life, business associates and various charities.

I have a personal short term goal of donating $10,000 per month to charity. When I set this target, I had no idea of “how”, I just knew “what” the desired result was.

If you in any way find empowerment in this book and genuinely believe your lifestyle can and will improve from the ideas herein, please consider supporting a charity of your own choice with a portion of the increased financial rewards that you enjoy from these ideas. Napoleon Hill devoted years of his life to benefit mankind in such a way, even he possibly didn’t imagine the magnitude of it. His desired outcome was known to him. He had the passion and a burning desire to achieve an outcome that will be an asset for mankind over many years to come.

Napoleon Hill, I salute you!

Willpower vs Goals and Dreams

Willpower and the power of choiceI touched on the topic of willpower yesterday. There are some areas where your power of choice and willpower really help you the more than others. One area is of course when you’re setting goals. And not just when you are setting goals but also when others are striving towards theirs. It’s easy to set targets and goals but how easy it is to stay motivated? Most goals are washed down the “tube of lost dreams” while only some come into fruition. We can support our own goals, along with our friends goals in many ways. The best way is simply to stay aware of the goals on a permanent basis.

How to support dreams and goals: Know that they are there

Know what your goals and dreams areIt’s easy to forget that everyone is trying to reach a goal at some point or another – especially when we have our own plans in place. We forget that by not taking a moment to notice others, we aren’t being as supportive as they might need us to be. If the tables were turned in this situation; we would want someone to cheer for us - wouldn’t we? Here’s how you can help others (and help yourself at the same time). Talking with others about their goals and dreams is the first step in learning how you can help. By simply asking others what they are planning on doing and how they are planning on reaching a specific goal, you can begin to show your interest as well as help them see the value of the work they are doing. Be interested in what others have to say and they will also help you look at your personal goals in a positive light as well.

Follow up with those whose goals you have learned

By checking in with people ever so often, you can show this person that they have someone supporting them and ready to help them should they need help. Even if they are always on track, it’s fun to see the progress of someone else – inspiring too. At the same time, if this person does need help, make sure to step in to help if you can or give them the direction they need to get unstuck.

Follow up and encourage goalsCelebrate the success of others when you learn about it. A fun greeting card or a quick e-mail can help someone feel like they have really succeeded and that their work has been validated. Make sure to tell them that they are an inspiration to you as well, as they will be.

Also, don’t forget to reward yourself along the way when you achieve stepping stones and waypoints towards your own goals.

Have a most outstanding day

The Power of The Free Will

March 21st, 2008

A few years ago, I used to work through holidays. This was not always by direct choice. Often I would be told to work by the boss. Other times, I was chasing the money. You know the term: Lose the farm? I nearly did. So money was always the elusive chase in exchange for time and lifestyle. You can read my intro to the Mindset Mastery eBook and you’ll get a fair idea what I went through physically and emotionally. This was my motivation to my Easter Message that I posted on this blog.

We are born with the power of choice

Born with the power of free willAt the end of the day, though, it was my own choice to work through the holidays. I have no one to blame than myself for my own decisions and choices. And the news is this: Nor have you! We are all born with the power of Choice and Free Will. That is a powerful thing to have and something to be eternally grateful for. We make decisions every day that affect our own and others lives, for good and bad. So, with that in mind, let’s talk about Willpower or Self Control.

Willpower and your ability to change

Creating the will to change is easy – maintaining it is where most people have problems. We all have things we want to change about ourselves and we’ve been taught that if we just use our willpower, we will be able to succeed. But time and time again, this doesn’t seem to be the best advice. When it comes to making permanent changes in your life, maybe you need to rethink willpower.

Thinking about free will and your power of choiceWhen you think about what makes you tick, you need to realize that your free will is what sets you apart from other species. You aren’t acting on instinct most of the time – you’re acting based on your choices and your ability to reason out your choices. That’s free will. So when you want to change something in your life, you need to call upon this free will to make the right decision. And that’s where things get tricky.

Having the ability to choose doesn’t just mean that we should be compelled to make the right choice; it means that we have the opportunity to make any choice – even if it’s not the best one for us. Thus, calling on willpower to help us make better choices isn’t really going to work. Call on willpower only calls upon your ability to make a choice.

So, how do you make the right choice?

Making the right choice requires willpowerWhat does work is creating a new way of thinking in our brains that will compel us to make better choices that are more in line with our goals. By creating lists of reasons for wanting to reach a certain goal or measuring our progress as we move toward a particular goal, we can begin to see a compelling argument for moving our will into a different direction.

Our willpower isn’t the only tool we have in motivation our personal success – but it certainly can be a powerful one, once you understand how it works.

Have a most outstanding day
