And the Melbourne Cup Winner is… Shocking!
It looks like the horse that Kevin Rudd backed won the Melbourne Cup at Flemington today. Congratulations!
Seriously, when I wrote this article I had absolutely no idea who would win (The article is now updated and includes the winner). I am an internet marketer and this is an experiment for my coaching students to see how many people will visit this blog by typing in Melbourne Cup Winner into Google immediately after the big race. So really this is simply to prove to my students in The Internet Marketing Forum what they can achieve in a very short time.
So don’t take this too seriously. Here we go. I have no idea about horses, races or betting. Wish me luck
The Race That Stops A Nation
The Melbourne Cup is also known as The Race That Stops A Nation. The race is for three-year-olds (and over) and is held over a distance of 3,200 metres. It is known as the most prestigious Two Mile Handicap in the world. Expect the nation of Australia to stand still at 4 pm on the first Tuesday in November by the race held on the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne.
Man, I’m running out of knowledge about horses… A top spot on Google would be nice by now. Enough chat, back to the topic
The Melbourne Cup Winners
The Melbourne Cup Winner will be announced here just after the race. Meanwhile, here is a list of the past 8 Melbourne Cup Winners and if the list bores you, there is a picture of a filly on the right:
- 2000 Brew
- 2001 Ethereal
- 2002 Media Puzzle
- 2003 – 2005 Makybe Diva
- 2006 Delta Blues
- 2007 Efficient
- 2008 Viewed
- 2009 Shocking!
Will Bart Cummings Get A Clean Sweep?
81 year old, Bart Cummings has already captured the Caulfield Cup and the Cox Plate this year. If he wins on the first Tuesday of November, he will have a cool trifecta in 2009 and also his 13th Melbourne Cup. On that basis, I wish Bart Cummings the best of luck!
For those of you that don’t like horses (like me – LOL), here’s a plug for my free book about Internet Marketing. Yes, it’s cheeky, I know… but I have a big heart (like Phar Lap)
I hope you had a win…
Happy day at the races

Hey Sean…must admit I can’t get excited about a horse race…even the one that stops the Nation.
Nice work getting listed…just shows one does not need to be “passionate’ about the content of one’s blog.

Bravo! Sean that was very, very clever and very, very smart. That has just opened up a huge new way of using ‘future’ keywords to capture a market. Obviously you would have to do some research into your target market and what they are into and what is coming up…but still I think it was a great demonstration of how easy it is to get on page 1 with a little bit of ‘thought’.
I use this very same strategy with video marketing and product launches. Get on page 1 of Youtube as well as Google…sometimes for a couple of days sometimes for 3 weeks but guess who gets the most views and clicks on her affiliate link for the product launches …another great strategy.
Thanks for sharing and well done.
PS. I live in Australia and I did not pick the winner…better luck next year.
Have a fantastic day.
Cheers

Hi Sean,
Me too, I’m not a follower of horseracing and am not excited at all about the Race that stops a nation. Good article though. Am still trying to follow what it likes to be an affiliate.
Hey Sean,
I was going to suggest you read one of my more quirky
articles on my blog, HOW TO BE YOUR OWN PSYCHIC,
at http://blogboogie.com/
but I see you do not need the psychic help as your predictive
powers are already well developed.
Thank you,
Jim Cassa.
PS: When are you coming to Melbourne for your next seminar
and workshop? The last one was cutting edge.

I would be curious to know how many long tail keywords your blog ranks for – very clever strategy indeed. Although I am not surprised, I have seen your pages outrank some pretty stiff competition in no time before.

I love horses but can’t say I am too interested in betting on the day…actually because I live in QLD I don’t even really pay much attention to when the day comes around!!!
I thought it was really cheeky of you to put your link at the bottom, but guess what? It made me smile, so as a person looking at your blog I would of clicked on the link out of curiosity.
Good post – love the double meaning of “Check out the filly on the right”
A real hoot!!
