Sydney Internet Marketing Geeks

by Sean Rasmussen on April 11, 2009

Today we are qualifying the first batch of Sydney Internet Marketing Geeks. It’s Easter weekend and I am absolutely surprised and impressed by the amount of people that have turned up. It is apparent that many people out there are just like me and hunger for more information to improve their life quality for themselves and their families. It is something I understand very well and am very passionate about.

Internet Marketing Geeks

This weekend we are calling ourselves Internet Marketing Geeks. There is a good reason for this. Geeks are called so in school by the tough kids. Later in life, the tough kids aren’t all that successful and many of the geeks go on to enjoy life a lot more. I recall a speech by Bill Gates where he stated to high school graduates:

“Be nice to the geeks in your class. One day you will end up working for one.”

Bill Gates was once a Geek. As a matter of fact, many people probably still classify him as one!

Sydney Internet Marketing

So why do we call them the Sydney Internet Marketing Geeks? Basically, it’s a play with words. To put it more in concept, in a few days, I will publish a post here in this blog about Success Communication. It is about tolerance and understanding others in a way that makes your own life much easier and more abundant. Many people don’t understand the so-called Geeks. Here in Sydney this weekend, we are crossing that line and breaking down the borders between everyday people and Geeks.

Who Wants To Be A Geek?

So now that you know exactly the benefits, who wants to be a Geek? We can see that it is not a bad thing. As a matter of fact, it is a good thing! You get to learn affiliate marketing. Knowing something technical can seem nerdy and in reality it is simply a matter of spending a little more time studying a topic than the average person. If it wasn’t about computers, Geeks would be called specialists or professors. I’m probably a Geek in a way and many of my friends are Geeks too. And why not? We have a ball, we are Sydney Internet Marketing Geeks and we love showing others how to do the same. In the process, they can improve their life’s and have a great time. Win-win!

Thank you everyone that turned up this weekend in Sydney. I sincerely look forward to hearing about the future online success of my new friends: The Sydney Internet Marketing Geeks.

Until next time, have a most outstanding day

Just the perfect reminder to watch what you say (and sing) with Sean around.

Looks like maybe Shaun’s wife got the singing talent in the family?

I wouldn’t really call myself a geek, though I have been called that many times. Bill Gates was definitely a geek when he stared out :) The video is cool though :D

So who decides who is a geek. I think the term is often used by those who wish they had more knowledge about something and is a compliment however when I hear it for some reason I still have the derogatory vision of the word in my head why is that!! Anyway I think you and your local online marketing geeks should be proud of the name!! I guess you already are, so the rest of you out there…. geek is not a derogatory term anymore!

What I like about this event is that people with the same interest gather to share knowledge and experiences on how they succeed on their online marketing. And I agree, being a geek nowadays can be very rewarding. Thunbs up to you guys!

“Be nice to the geeks in your class. One day you will end up working for one.” Bill Gates This is so true, its funny how life turns out that way and how many people look back and wished that them, themselves could have rather been one of those geeks, I know that I would have done things differently in school knowing what I know now.
Great post again thanks Sean

That’s really interesting to get in touch with lots of people sharing the same interests. This exchange of information normally helps everyone! Bad luck, I couldn’t participate :-(

I am actually a Scientist so I was a geek long before I became involved with internet marketing or SEO – but proud of it never the less. I am passing on my geekiness to my son aparently – they have a dress up day at school next week and he wants to dress up as a MAD scientist.

Hi Sean,

I’m a wannabe geek. I can’t wait until I am a fully-fledged geek and I can actually make my computer do what I want it to do. :)

It isn’t all about technology but being proud of being smart and intelligent. If you don’t want to be able to know the ins and outs of your computer hire someone and move on to what you do best.

Hi Sarah,

You make an excellent point. I always thought a geek was someone who was smarter than the average guy and who can create all these amazing things that transform our lives.

I’m thinking of not just Steve Jobs but Nobel Prize winning scientists and anyone that thinks outside the square. But, I much prefer your definition of a geek and that’s totally me. :)

I sometimes wonder if geeks succeed because of their intelligence or because of the need to rise above the ridicule others subject them to. Learning to stand up for yourself is a form of education, although cruel, and one that you don’t want to be subjected to but am sort of thankful for in the end.

I am a geek :)
