Melbourne Online Education Seminar

by Sean Rasmussen on May 9, 2009

Today we are at The Crown Promenade Hotel in Melbourne for the next leg of the Australian SEO Challenge. For those of you that are interested in Internet Marketing, my SEO challenge for this week is: Melbourne Online Education Seminar. Again, I need to rank this keyphrase number 1 on Google in less than 24 hours or I lose the challenge. Even worse, if I don’t rank number 1 on Google before 9pm tonight – live in front of a room full of people – I have to buy drinks for the 250 thirsty people who are attending this Melbourne Seminar.

The Melbourne SEO Challenge

The beauty is that “when” I succeed with my number 1 ranking, Shaun will be paying the bill for the entire open bar tonight. The Melbourne Online Education Seminar will go down as the day Shaun spent his piggy-bank on our excited seminar attendees. It has been a long day and learning about Internet Marketing can be thirsty business. I especially enjoy having drinks in the bar on the Saturday night of our events. We meet a lot of beautiful people with interesting stories to tell and Melbourne in particular is home of many good friends of mine. I love online education and sharing this knowledge is a passion of mine. By the way, I am yet to lose this SEO Challenge – so please cross your fingers for me… here’s for hoping ;)

Online Education Seminar

Last week at the Brisbane Internet Workshop, I published a funny photoshop movie poster of Shaun and his brother Matt. It was of the Twins movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny Devito. Needless to say, the seminar attendees had a great laugh when I showed them the result. You’ll find the posters by following the above link to view The Brothers Online. We proved that Online Education can be a lot of fun – even at the cost of a slightly changed movie poster…

Melbourne Online Education

This time I have been rushed to win this SEO Challenge. Shaun knew I’d get it with 1 hour up my sleeve, so he moved my next session… now I have about 25 minutes to achieve the same result. Here’s hoping I can prove it and share my Online Education with my new friends from Melbourne. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as me. Next time you get a chance to learn affiliate marketing through a seminar or workshop, make sure to call in and say hello to me.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Melbourne Online Education Seminar and I look forward to seeing you sometime really soon.

Until next time, have a fantastic day.

I only made #2 on Google by 9pm only beaten by a Digg submission of the very same story / article. It was submitted by a reader on my blog the same night.

I had #1 on Google by 2am for 3 keywords in that article.

I’d still say you had number 1 on Google. The digg submission was still your article so I believe that you had the number 1 spot ;)

Hi Sean,
that’s an interesting challenge – but how is it possible to become #1 in Google in 24 hours? Possible links grow and/or onsite optimisation wil not be detected in real time – will it (confused)

Hi Timmy
RSS feeds can provide dozens of links instantly across the web. Sometimes hundreds. They are all backlinks.

Hi Sean,
providing RSS Feeds may give lots of backlinks instantly – ok, but I can’t believe that a big part of it will be recognized by Google in realtime (or within hours), an SERPs impact analysis und update within this time. That should mean, that RSS feeds are handled different from “normal” Links on a website. Because this takes time …

By the way, how doe you distribute the RSS feeds?

It works and is only a part of it. Having an aged domain helps too. A keyphrase vs a keyword is easier of course. WordPress distributes the RSS automatically.

BTW. We did this live, including posting this article, before 200+ people in Melbourne. They all witnessed the process we went through and saw the live results.

This goes to show how good SEO really is – over 10 months later and you are still in the number 1 spot for the keyword phrase “Melbourne Online Education Seminar”

Hi Sean

I remember the drinks you shouted everyone at the Sydney event. I thought it was very generous. It was great to catch up with you then too and see you again since Hawaii in 2006.

Hi Lina,
I didn’t know that you are in that “game” already that long – that’s probably part of the reason that your page is up there doing well already :)

Hi Sean,

I can see you have been an SEO motivated man for a long while now. Good on you, that’s good news! It’s good to see you have your students heading in the right direction. I bet it was fun to put your specialized knowledge up for the challenge – so that we may be confident and also learn your specialized gift of knowledge.

Jill.

I find it amazing that Sean is able to proof this again, again and again. I can’t imagine anybody out there still doubting that what Sean claims to be possible online not to be true. He is living proof that it works – and that he can show us how it works!
