Today I’m posting a slightly different type of story: Selling Grandma On eBay. Normally the topics in here are about Mindset, Personal Development and my passion: Internet Marketing. However, I’d like to share another type of story today. Some people think that just because I have experienced considerable success as an Australian Internet Marketer, that I have no problems and life is always “hunky dory”. Well, let me tell you that is not always the case.
More money sometimes just means bigger problems 😉
Why: Selling Grandma On eBay?
The title: Selling Grandma On eBay, is inspired by the ilk of some entrepreneurs I have had the pleasure (??) to meet and deal with over the years. I have no doubt in my mind that the Scarcity Mentality that they have around life, although they say they have an Abundance Mentality, is 100% focused on Money & Self Gratification.
Normally I go back over my articles in this blog and edit them prior to publishing. Today however, I want to capture the pure raw emotion behind my experiences so you can feel the real story. To hear that I also get to deal with the same issues as everyone else may just help more people realise how close we all are. We go through highs and lows in life. The lows are speedhumps on our constant journey in life and learning to cope with them helps us “Help Ourselves” as well as “Help Others”.
Do Anything It Takes
I sincerely believe that at least 2 entrepreneurs I have met and done business with would be “Selling Their Grandma On eBay” if they got the right price. It is a pretty big statement, and I’m ashamed to think that any Australian would be like that but after spending years around entrepreneurs like that, you get to know them on a different level. This is in no way meant to take away credit from the good people and entrepreneurs I have met and become very good friends with. By no means! There are many great business people out there and I am proud to call them my friends and sometimes colleagues. Take away the “one or two” bad ones that stain the industry and we have a 100% clean business and we can honestly say we are all dealing from Honesty and Integrity all of the time.
Time Weeds Out The Bad Seeds
Poor old Grandma doesn’t choose her Grandchildren. I would absolutely hate to see my children or Grandchildren behave in that manner. Fortunately, I understand the importance of bringing up my family with honesty, integrity and ethics to the degree that they in turn do the same for their children. It is with great confidence I say that my children’s children will not be putting me up for auction on eBay (Hopefully that is not because I’ll be a Grandpa).
Who’s Selling Grandma On eBay?
My advice to everyone reading this article is this: Go with your gut instinct. If you think someone is so low that they will be Selling Grandma on eBay, then stay away. When I realised that my personal good nature, trust in others, honesty and integrity was being taken advantage of, then I simply moved away from these people. If I was to make a very harsh statement (actually, I’m about to) and if I was a religious person, then I feel this statement sums those predators like this:
“There is boxed seat in a corporate box in Hell. It has their name on it as a sponsor. Enjoy the ride!”
Yes that is harsh, but not as harsh as the people that had to pay for their ride to that corporate box. I have sponsored that ride to the tune of over $300,000 of unpaid work and while I have worn that, I accept the outcome and move on. Hopefully this article will help others stay away from the same mistakes. As a keen promoter of Australian Internet Marketing who intends on being the number 1 in AustralAsia by 2010, I know my knowledge, my honesty, integrity, ethics and love for other people will shine through. I am helping people realise their dreams right now and will keep doing it.
Keeping Positive In Adversity
During, what could be seen as tough times, I still maintain my monthly payment to the charities I support. I refuse to stoop myself to the level of those “few” entrepreneurs that have nothing but themselves at heart. I support these charities and hope that I can inspire you to support a few favorite charities yourself:
In addition to these, I occasionally support the local Soup Kitchen and donated $10,000 to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal a few days after the disaster struck.
In summary: Life is good. Please don’t think I’m doing it tough. The purpose of this article is for you to see that things don’t alway turn out the way we want them to. In life we have to take a few hard knocks to the chin and then move on. Stooping ourselves to the level of the dirty play of “some” others is just not acceptable. Karma has a way of sorting those players out. 3 entrepreneurs have lost an Australian Internet Marketer that made the difference between them being super successful in their sales department – or not. They chose “Not“. Good luck for you and me – Bad luck for them.
Now, let’s move on to better things. I hope my message today had some level of Success Communicated in it. I will see you back here soon with my normal writing style back on track for your enjoyment.
Life is good. Let’s play good 🙂
