Success Loves Wealth

by Sean Rasmussen on May 24, 2008

I heard this story told by Dr John Demartini. It has a strong message and I found great motivation in it.

Three old wise men walked up to a house and knocked on the door. A lady opened the door and discovered the three men standing there, all with long white beards. The first wise man introduced himself and his 2 friends as Success, Wealth and Love. He asked politely: “Is your husband home?

Sorry“, she answered. “He will be home late tonight

The 3 wise men asked if it was OK to wait until he got home as they had an important message for him. She approved and walked back inside.

Later that night, the husband arrived home. He noticed the 3 men at the back of the house, waiting patiently. When asking his wife who they were and what they wanted, she responded:

They are 3 wise men and they have an important message for you

Well“, he said. “Invite them inside!

She walked outside and invited them inside but they said she could only invite one in at a time. She returned to her husband and he immeditely replied: “Invite Wealth. We need more wealth around here!

The wife responded: “I think we need more Success. Let’s invite him inside

Their teenage daughter appeared and added: “We need more Love in this family! Let’s invite love inside

Both the husband and wife agreed and decided to invite Love inside. The wife walked back outside and invited Love. Love proceeded to walk inside followed by Wealth and Success. Once inside, the family were a bit puzzled. Why had they all come inside when they were instructed that only one could come in at a time?

When asked this question, the wise old man named Love said:

Had you asked for Wealth or Success, only the one you requested would walk in and that is all you get. Wherever Love goes, Wealth and Success follows

Love = Wealth and Success

The moral of this story is apparent. Love is an emotion and it’s even much more than that. It is the most powerful force in the universe. Love can not be destroyed by anyone but the being that holds it in their heart. Live a life of Love and you will be passionate about everything you do. Wealth and Success are a byproduct of Love. It is a reward for your gratitude in life.

Love is much more than a “Hollywood” stereotype of mushy feelings between 2 people. Love is empowering. It is something you feel for someone or something that goes so deep, you cannot explain the origins of it. You can have it for a child, an animal, a lifestyle, a cause, a passion… Gratitude is a product of love or even a precursor for love. Either way. it’s a good place to be.

Have a most outstanding day!

I have heard John (Dr Demartini) tell this story more than once and it is that simple. Wherever love is, so is wealth and success for without love nothing else matters. I enjoyed reading it here Sean… thanks!

Sure thing Ange. Hey, guess where my beautiful wife is this week? At Dr John Demartini’s 7 day workshop. I’m at home holding the fort (minding the kids and doing the internet thing).

Ange Recchia shared this page with me. Thanks Ange. That was great! I love it.

It hits home on our current project, a labor of love. We are looking for members to test claims made on the Internet that water can replace gas as fuel. There is a need to actually know in light of skyrocketing fuel prices. Our motivation is not profit, nor success, as it is simply to care and share, to discover truth from direct observation exposing any myths. We must know, and spread what we learn.

I’ve added a link to this page from our current project proposal at http://tinyurl.com/4urt4q and my stumbleupon account as well.

You have an excellent site! Thanks!

Hi David
Caring and sharing is success, so you will have success from this project. I wish you best of luck with it and hopefully you can get past the Haliburton’s and Bechtel’s with your ideas. Blogs are a great place to do this, being (almost) void of the newspapers and news channels biased editors.

Gotta love it Sean…

if only people could really grasp the potency of this princpal, and seek after it without looking for the reward.

Another way of saying this is …

it is important to invite in love
not so you can entertain success
nor dine with wealth
but because it is truly love that you desire to enter and stay in your life
both now, today…. and always.

the others will follow…. don’t worry about them! Have no fear about if they will enter, too…
for perfect love casts out all fear
and is perfected in our heart’s desire
to have it dwell with us
to be a friend through all things.

Thanks Sean….

lots of love to you brother!

Love is present when you can see and understand the balance between positive and negative feelings/memories, thats how easy it is.

I could take that one step further and say that we are already love in the pure essence, it just gets diluted down by the negative thoughts we have about ourselves.

Therefore we deserve to love ourselves more.

Hi Sean, that is really a great story.
Sometimes we use the word “passion” when we talk about our love for doing something in particular, when you can’t stop yourself and would even pay money to be allowed to do it. And when you let your passion blossom, you will be successful – and wealthy in more than just the financial way.
Thanks for sharing that story!!

I love that story. Love surely is success. You can have as much wealth as you like but unless you find love in your friends and family and a spouse, you will never be happy and never consider your life a success.

You are a man after my heart Ray. I really feel after reading Sean’s blog it’s ONLY ALL about the love. So the Beatles were right & not a bunch of hippies singing weird songs – “All you need is love…”

Hi Sean,

That is a great story. I can’t believe I’ve never heard it before. I think love is the most important of the three because for me, wealth and success don’t guarantee happiness. However, if you have love in your life, you are happy

It’s kind of like the song says, “All we need is love…”

Reply

Samantha Banfield March 23, 2010 at 2:38 pm

Oh my Jazz… after I posted my reply to Ray I saw your comment & could not believe my eyes. It’s synergy when you are thinking exactly the very same thoughts as someone else but how when we have never met…????

As I was typing my reply the song just popped in my head & I could literally hear the Beatles singing in my ear!!!

That’s Twilight Zone stuff!

Some call it synchronicity (no wavy red lines, I must have spelled it right!)

It is a reminder to all of us that we are the one thing in essence and that is love. Without love, success and wealth will only be used for personal gain.

Hi Sean,

There are so many different kinds of love. Love for a child. Love for a partner. Love for your pet. a Love for money. Love is good and can be also painful. The 3 wise men could probably sort this one out.

I asked a friend once, “What is love?” he answered with only one word “commitment”…..I don’t know how true that’s though – Doesn’t sound like too much fun.

Success loves Wealth. Well, that sounds like a marriage made in heaven. Ha! :)

Jill.

Definitely we all need love. Some spend a lifetime trying to find it when quite often it is right in front of them. All they need to do is open their eyes.

Oh my… this has left me speechless!!! Lost for words!!!

The feeling of being hit in the chest – is the best way to explain how I feel right now.

I’m getting it… instead of feeling frustrated at having writers block, I love how I feel when I finish writing a blog. I have never thought about it like that before…

I have been using the art of gratitude in the last few months but I can see where I can make further changes because I have been still ’stuck’ and I think I can see why.

Thanks for sharing Demartini’s little story to illustrate a very important point.

Hello Sean,

Love = Wealth and Success.

I really LOVE this quote, and the story behind the saying. I am going to be printing this one up to place in a fridge. With five boys (and I hubby – so six boys!) I am going to put it where they can see it every day…..at eye level on the fridge. It reminds me that Love is needed before any other important tool to make family life/work life and life in general a successful one.

Cheers Sean

I have been thinking of this story all week.

I have come to the conclusion that you can’t have the Three Stooges without Larry, Curly and Moe. Without Larry and Curly – there’s just Moe. And if anyone who has seen The Simpsons & knows the character of Moe then you know Moe is a very sad & lonely man without any love in his life!

G’day Sean,
The Beatles said it really well :- ” ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE ” Ain’t that the truth. As your SLOA book says ” one of the greatest things a person can do is to give back to those they love” To do that, and some work for charity, are major reasons for our IM journey and we all love you for the help you and the YOTA team give so generously.

We are all on the same wave length because we all get the main point – that wealth is not only dollars or euros, but that you the passion for what you are doing is much more important. When you are passionate about yourself and your life, you will be successful. That’s just the way it is.

Ah Harry,

The magic of real giving, from the heart, true giving, is that you don’t want anything back in return.

Conditional giving is not real giving because then you are taking, always expecting something back in return.

I once tried this. I created such intense love that I lived my life cloaked in an aura of love. It created its own set of problems. For instance, dozens of women suddenly wanted to be my friend. I was not adequately equipped to deal with this. Also, it revealed my weaknesses. Again, I was not equipped to deal with so much ’stuff’ at once. This is not an exercise for the faint-hearted. Did it bring me success? Well I suppose it did in a way. Did it bring me wealth? No, not millions of $, if that’s what you mean. Did it provide a stepping stone to my ultimate success in the area of my passion? Yes, indeed it did. And it gave much knowledge and understanding, and that is what I value extremely highly.

Hi Sean,
Because the story is attached to a learning I will remember the learning so much better now. Much easier now to remember than if it were a line, just plucked out of thin air, “Wherever love goes wealth and success follows” That sits well.

I had better find out where love is going next.

I enjoyed reading this article very much, Thank-you.

Love is never stagnant, it vibrates inside and outside of us. When I have a greater purpose than myself, wealth and success will turn up for work with sleeves rolled up, ready to go.

Peter Damien Ryan July 23, 2010 at 10:59 am

It’s amazing, or perhaps not so, how often that where there is wealth first, that love finds little space left for it. Think of how many of the rich and famous pursue wealth and success first and then try to let love in ….. 5 divorces later!
