This is the intro to the Mindset Mastery eBook. I wrote it as a tribute to one of the foremost inspirations for thousands of self improvement and motivational coaches across the globe.
A tribute to Napoleon Hill – by Sean Rasmussen
The year 2000 was a big year for me. My second son was born, I was constantly working away from home to “make a living” and I was asking a lot of questions about life. “Is this as good as it gets?” I asked myself. My family finances were going backwards and the harder I worked, it seemed, the bigger the financial hole seemed to get.
I would be away from home, at work, for 6 weeks at a time and have 1 week off. I missed my son’s first words, his first steps and didn’t give him the opportunity to call me “Dad” when he was ready for it. On my one week off from work, I’d lap it all up and my heart was torn to bits every time I had to leave again for work. I called work a “Paid Prison Sentence” and vowed to make some drastic changes. Something had to change for me to experience change. I gave myself no option.
When my workmates went to the pub or a concert or anything social after work, I was in my little caravan reading books; Self-help books. 2000 was the catalyst year for my Mindset Mastery to start kicking in. I discovered Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, Anthony Robbins and many more inspiring authors but foremost I found Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
My mind went into overdrive. I had moments of “truth” come to me. It’s something I cannot describe. You will have to experience it yourself. I genuinely hope you discover it and reading this book will help you. The strategies suggested by Mr. Hill have been applied. With a blind faith in my own ability along with further “Financial Education”, I have experienced results I previously only dared to dream about.
I am now an active supporter of many charities, many of which would not benefit from me hadn’t I read Napoleon Hill’s book, Think and Grow Rich. The applied “mindset changes” and “calls to action” that I initiated have made an incredible impact on my personal life, family life, business associates and various charities.
I have a personal short term goal of donating $10,000 per month to charity. When I set this target, I had no idea of “how”, I just knew “what” the desired result was.
If you in any way find empowerment in this book and genuinely believe your lifestyle can and will improve from the ideas herein, please consider supporting a charity of your own choice with a portion of the increased financial rewards that you enjoy from these ideas. Napoleon Hill devoted years of his life to benefit mankind in such a way, even he possibly didn’t imagine the magnitude of it. His desired outcome was known to him. He had the passion and a burning desire to achieve an outcome that will be an asset for mankind over many years to come.
Napoleon Hill, I salute you!

That is so inspiring, to go from a small step to giant leap in your life. My life has certainly transformed over the past year, I just needed the ability to be willing to learn whilst supporting and teaching others on my journey to success. Instead of giving to charity, I decided to form a organisation that will help developments in various areas, art, science and community programs designed to give us the best possible chance to all be champions in the 21st century.
We have to help ourselves before we can help others. As Jesus once said “Take the log out of your eye before you take the spec out of another”.
Well put, Jake. The best way to help others is to have plenty to give with. A cup needs to overflow before it is abundant.
Sean, I thank God I subscribed to the Site of my choice. I appreciate you for the books there are so inspiring and motivating.
when ever I read them, I have this assurance in me that I CAN NEVER BE POOR and have no reason to be poor.
Keep the fire burnig One love.
Sincerely,
KINGSLEY
Thank you Kingsley
I appreciate your kind words very much. I’m happy you like the book.
Napoleon Hill’s words have never been so appropriate as they are now in these tough economic times. Thanks for the reminder.
Hi ‘AMAA’
Napoleon Hills words are very appropriate and you can take inspiration and motivation form them in any field in life. Maybe something for your students at the Martial Arts Academy.
Have fun
Literature is news that stays news.
Hi Sean,
2010 is my year just as 2000 was for you. I’m ready to put the effort in to truly master the success principles and start living the life I desire.
You clearly had enough pain in your life that caused such a dramatic shift in your thinking that you went looking for ways to create a better life. I am fortunate that through you I am learning the lessons I need to be able to make the changes I need to create the life of my dreams for myself and my family.
I am getting the benefit of your knowledge and experience and I am truly grateful for this.
Yes, Jazz, I wonder how my life could have been different if I had a mentor like Sean when I was younger.

It’s never to late Wal, and I am sure you have many great years ahead of you. And you have the chance to influence lots of others with the knowledge you are gaining know, because you have the standing and life experience so people will take on board what you say.

Sean, it is great to see how Napoleon Hill’s book changed your life – not only as outlined in this post, but also in the ‘My Story’ webinar / mp3 you released. I am just reading through Think and Grow Rich for the first time, and it contains some powerful ideas. Fortunately I am good at following instructions, so we’ll see how I go.

I agree, Sean had pain but most importantly it seemed he had no time. Time is something we all think we have little of but we all have the same amount. We have to realize what our priorities are and make time for them – like Sean was able to do. So just like Sean could take his “empty” social hour to take action so can all of us.

Hi Sean,
You said in this post, “I had moments of “truth” come to me. It’s something I cannot describe. You will have to experience it yourself. I genuinely hope you discover it and reading this book will help you”
I bet it is the same thing the little child accidentally stumbled upon in, Introduction, A Fifty Cent Lesson In Persistence…..but what is it?
Jill.
Be persistent.

My Think and Grow Rich book travels everywhere with me keeping me inspired
Sounds like a religion, Rita.
The moments of truth are something like when your soul wakes up. Your inner child returns and personal breakthroughs occur. As amazing as it is, it’s also very challenging. While some people do nothing, others will use it as a catalyst for huge change.

Lina, is it like light? Enlightenment? Turning the light on?
I guess it is like a glimps of it. I have experienced a few brief moments of “truth” where you see, read or do something and you just know with your whole being that it is the right thing to do. It’s not only knowledge in your brain, it’s really in your entire being.
And as Lina says, it can be challenging, because you might realize that you have to do something totally different to what you thought you want or need to do. And you have to decide which way to walk from there…

I had a similar but perhaps more massive reaction to reading the Bhagavad Gita. It is only a small book but it took me an age to read. Every sentence had meaning to me. I had read TAGR several times by the time I was 20. I also read The Master Key to Riches and Laws of Success at this time. So obviously TAGR had a big effect on me. Not as big as the Gita.

What you describe about the Bhagavad Gita is similar to y own breathtaking experience of ‘The Prophet”. It just feels like coming home.

Sean Rasmussen, I salute you! $10000 is an amazing amount of money for any charity. Someday I’ll get there, now I’m starting at $250 in April. I have been supporting literacy charities with the sales of my books and ebooks, announcing to everyone part of my proceeds would be going to certain groups. I am now going to start promising an amount and am too at a loss for how I’ll be able to do so much but that’s not the important piece. The vital part is me specific the amount and doing everything in my power to do it.
Sarah Butland´s last blog ..You Are the Reason I Know It Will Happen
Over the years, I’ve followed and donated to various charities and causes. Somewhere in Korea is a little girl (or I guess she would be a young lady, now) that I helped for a few years; there has been donations to the Surf Life Saving club down home, contributions to one of the ships that participated in the Tall Ships Race in celebration of Australia’s Bi-Centennial. I enjoyed making these contributions because they interested me, not for any karmic or cosmic reward. These days I’ve got myself into a situation where I can no longer make these kind of contributions, and I miss it. This is part of the reason I’m in this competition: to better myself so that I can help to better others.
Just a thought!
Cheers,
Pete

Hi Sean
Thankyou so much for sharing that very touching memory which brought tears to my eyes just thinking about it. As I said in another of your blogs today, TAGR changed my life as a teenager. I read what Wal said about the Gita, a book I have loved and adored for many years.
I attended a seminar 4 years ago and the speaker said that in exchange for the education he was giving us he would like us to consider putting ten percent of the profit we made from taking massive action towards a charity or something similar. I decided that day that I would start donating before I made any profit, and it became a really easy and fulfilling thing to do. I think it’s called ‘paying it forward’?
I didn’t want to walk away from the seminar pumped up with good intentions and not act on them. I learnt that day that if I made a promise, then I will commit to it.
Giving from the heart with no thought of return is the only true form of giving.
Now Sean, you have been able to give freely, Napoleon Hill’s wonderful book of self empowerment so that people can realise that there is a way to live an amazing life and have happiness.
You know it has the ability to change people’s lives so in fact, this is your way of ‘paying it forward’ and it is a wonderful gift indeed.
Thankyou and many blessings
Elly

I’ve read many books that gave me insights and wake-up calls. I hope I will always find one when I need it. This is the year that I told myself things must change. When the student is ready, the teacher will come. I must be ready.
I’ve spent most of my life helping others in any way I could. I don’t plan to stop any time soon.
Hi Elizabeth,
it sounds like you are inspiring to people as well. It’s a great thing to help others, and as Sean shows it can be contagious. You get helped by a (great) person / mentor / teacher and it creates the wish to do the same down the track to others.
I am counting on all the people that have been inspired to take action to inspire 1 or more persons them selves in th future by sharing their knowledge with them.
Renee´s last blog ..Self Improvement Books – What Are Your Favourites
Hi Elizabeth and Renee,
I think we have a responsibility to help others as other people have helped us to get us where we are today. I think that quote, ‘to whom much is given, much is expected’; says it all.
I think we have a responsibility to pay it forward and help someone else. Besides, it just feels good.
