Peter Bland vs Frisky Whiskey – Blooper

by Sean Rasmussen on March 19, 2008

It’s All About The Offer

I promised you the blooper I filmed with Peter Bland when he visited my home in Western Australia.  All thing do not always go to plan, especially when dealing with animals or children. I have another funny video from my sons classroom when “Peter Bland – The Ice Man” presented his Adventure Odyssey’s to the children.  I’ll share that one with you another time. For now, here’s Peters ordeal with Whiskey The 90kg Ram.

Peter Bland – The Ice Man vs Frisky Whiskey

I should have named that one: Bland Whiskey. If you get the opportunity to see Peter Bland speak, you’ll hear some great motivational stories of ordeals with Polar Bears that (might) put Whiskey to shame. I’ll share some more stories about Peter Bland in future posts.

The original post + video with Peter Bland is here >> Peter Bland – The Ice Man

Have a most outstanding day

I was thinking about the ‘offer’. Having raised quite a few different animals that all get very attached and friendly, I can relate well to Whiskey.
This made me think of what Whiskey offers. I don’t mean the whiskey of the bar type, but Whiskey of the Baaaa type!

Over and again I come across the main ingredient to success. Doing what we enjoy doing (and outsourcing the rest) is not only a means of being driven by inner fulfillment, whereby we do not lose drive over time, but also in and with that, is a success in life…. succeeding in having and living a life that we want to have and live rather than doing because we have to, often to keep our position in life. We all have our place and yet so many never realise this either in their understanding or in real terms, like what they do.

What has this got to do with sheep?
It is about the offer…. but from the other side of the paddock. What is it that makes us want to raise a lamb? What are we getting from the offer of such a tasking duty, with mess to clean up, time to spend, and ultimately the inability to go near the creature undisturbed ever again, as they do like to check you out until satisfied you clearly have nothing to offer. And of course you don’t want them walking in the house or messing up the verandah!
Yet there is something very satisfying in the whole relationship and experience. Something that we long for, that we are rewarded with, and by, in such things as raising young animals.
(Raising 11 children also has an offer!)

Are you starting to get the picture?

Yes, we must consider the offer. But are we offering to those who are offering fulfillment to us?

Offering because we can make a buck is a short lived dream, and success is always out of reach if we only present offers for money/ We need to first look for the offer life has for us, for each one of us, and, it will be different for us all. Then we will know in the inner man just what to offer in return.
This is the road to wealth.

Whiskey likes lupins. Lupins are offered because Whiskey enjoys them (perhaps an understatement).

Re-phrased,
Whiskey is offered lupins. The enjoyment(and fulfillment) of Whiskey enjoying them is the offer.

All the best,

Hi Guy. Indeed, it’s all about the offer from both sides. I can see that you’ve got far more value from the Peter Bland video than most. Thanks for your message of fulfillment.

Thank you, too, Sean.

I really enjoyed reading all of your blog. My thoughts are, “Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone could think and walk like this, with such positive reaction to things and a bright encouraging outlook on life!”

As for Peter’s video… I was waiting for Whiskey to butt him or something! He got off light!!
As for getting far more out of it, well, maybe I am just more vocal about it. I am sure anyone who watches it would gain something of value.
I related well to it with my background, and also having spent 15 or so years in that neck of the woods, I suppose it did mean a lot more to me in that respect. My comments were to open it up a bit further and I hope it helps someone along the way.

All the best,

Guy

Hi Guy. There are many more readers of these comments than meets the eye. I see the stats of site visitors. We had over 7,000 individuals read this blog in 4 days over Easter. Your comment has been seen by many but comments are made by very few. I, for one, enjoyed your statement and value the input that you intended with it.
Call back and check it from time to time and you’ll see comments pop up. That’s the beauty of the internet. It sits there and works away over time. Your work will benefit many. Thanks!

Whiskey definitely was friskey! I was expecting that he would make a groin height charge towards Peter. Or perhaps I just watched too much Funniest Home Video show as a kid. But Peter handled him well.

Stick to beer, Peter, whiskey’s got the better of you. I couldn’t see the blooper. Did I miss something? All I saw was a man and some sheep behaving exactly as I would expect in those circumstances. Reminds me of some mums who come to see me in my consulting room with their 4 year olds saying ’see how badly behaved he is?’ ‘No’, I reply, ‘he is behaving like a normal 4 year old’.

Great blooper. You could perhaps collect a few, and start a series. Hmmm, now let me see?

Hey Sean,

Having grown up within a farming environment myself, I know just how persistent sheep can be. As a kid, the offer of a pet was foremost in your mind, but it wasn’t until both the lamb and yourself were older that you realised there was another offer on hand: wool money! Which us kids usually got around Christmas time for buying Christmas presents. And of course, if you were lucky enough to raise a ewe, then you also got her off-spring both for the wool and the selling. It only just occurred to me that I was a little entrepreneur back then. Only thing is I didn’t treat it or work it like a business. I guess that is because I wasn’t passionate about being a sheep farmer.

As Tom wrote, though, Peter did handle him well (with bribery, as well! *LOL*) And he DID get off lightly! My pet ram loved to butt heads with just about anything that was in his way (our pet emu, the horses).

Thanks for the share!

Cheers,

Pete

I guess Peter Bland showed that – even with a lot of distraction – he manages to get his message across. That’s real commitment :)
