I found that one of the ways I could start to appreciate obstacles and setbacks was to look at the ones that had already happened. I asked myself what good had come from these experiences.

It was amazing. Something that I had previously categorized as the worst thing that had ever happened to me was actually the best thing ever. Try it; you’ll be amazed to see how the ‘bad’ things maybe changed your course in life for the better. It will help you see the good more easily the next time you come across an obstacle.

This is a metaphor for something a friend, teacher and mentor once said to me. I think I’ve posted it in a comment previously but it’s worth repeating. he said: ‘If you are learning Karate, a fist coming towards you is an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to do something and without it, you could not learn Karate.” end of quote. I love it.
