Hi Renee,

I'm with you. We have to be careful what we let into our subconscious and even more so with our children. I think we can process these things better than children not that it's any better for us.

This post highlights for me the need to guard very carefully the things we let take root in our subconscious mind. Because whatever it is will be our reality.

Hi Jo,

I love that story. It just goes to show that you can alter someone's destiny just by changing the way they see themselves. The teacher expected gifted students and the students behaved as if they were.

If we were to start living as if we were already the successful people we wanted to be; I'm guessing that we'd be on the fast-track to success.

The method of developing faith given here by Napoleon Hill is tried and true and it works. I know because I am experiencing it right now after following his instructions. Modern techniques (eg NLP) have provided other ways of developing faith.

Having read through your post, Sean and then scrolling through the comments above, I am reminded of a study I read about somewhere. A group of students were given a new teacher for the year who was told that the students were a group of 'high to gifted' abilities, and for the year the class was taught as such. The punch-line was that at the end of the study the previously average-graded students, were performing consistently at much higher levels.
It's often easier to see things from a distance, that is when we look at 'others', but we can apply the same attitude to ourselves. We don't know what we can do, 'til we do it!

It's the old frog boiling in the water metaphor... Not that I like the idea of boiling a frog, but the saying goes that if you put it in boiling water straight away, it'd jump (or "croak"). But if you turn the heat up gradually, it won't notice - until boiling point.
