Hi Renee,

I think if the secret to wealth was too easily given to us we wouldn't give it the appropriate amount of respect. I think that success takes a lot of work.

So, by making us search for the secret, we're showing our willingness to work hard and be persistent. We will be rewarded with the information when we're ready to receive it.

I have to admit, it would be tempting to have "the secret to wealth" revealed on a silver platter.

But would it work? Would we actually use it or not really trust it because it sounds too easy or too complicated?

From a learning perspective he does it absolutely right to keep us on our toes and searching for it on every page. This way we pay the attention necessary to really engrave it into our brain.

Hi Sean

There is a story about a man who points to the moon while saying to his dog "look at the moon, look at the moon" but the dog only looks at the hand that is pointing and misses the moon entirely.

Napoleon Hill is pointing to the book, don't look at his hand. The parody is that the secret will be revealed when we read the book and put the information into action. Then we will discover the power of the written word come to life. The results of which will cause a transformation.

The Alchemist's magic is the whole process beginning with the "desire" to change one's situation to taking action as prescribed by Mr Hill and then getting the appropriate results.

See page 42 in chapter 2 the 6 practical steps. It's a fundamental first step!

Blessings

I am much entranced by this book. I too felt a light go on however briefly it flickered. Am I right? Did I catch it? Will I see every reference to it in the book?

There is another saying (or more accurately, a 3 point step) that I vaguely remember coming across, but can't remember, where the first two points are given, but not the third. (I think it was something along the lines of "The three steps to success are 1) Don't give too much aways, 2) Refer to Step 1!") With this, I keep wondering if the third step, or the secret, doesn't exist as such, but the 'mystery' of what it is and the fact that people are focused and looking for it is the 'hidden secret'. That it could be something along the lines of "Keep an eye out for what is not obvious!"

Just a thought!

Cheers,

Pete
