Mindset Mastery 4 – A Secret Education

by Sean Rasmussen on May 5, 2008

Mindset Mastery eBookAndrew Carnegie was a great philanthropist, as came to be exemplified later in his life when he donated the majority of his fortune to public libraries, schools, and scientific research. Andrew Carnegie, like Napoleon Hill, was not born to money – he created his own wealth. He believed that the ability to create wealth should be taught to all people as part of a basic education.

“This book contains the secret, after having been put to a practical test by thousands of people, in almost every walk of life. It was Andrew Carnegie’s idea that the magic formula, which gave him a stupendous fortune, ought to be placed within reach of people who do not have time to investigate how men make money, and it was his hope that I might test and demonstrate the soundness of the formula through the experience of men and women in every calling. He believed the formula should be taught in all public schools and colleges, and expressed the opinion that if it were properly taught it would so revolutionize the entire educational system that the time spent in school could be reduced to less than half.”

The Right Kind Of Education

This is reflective of the fact that so many people go completely through first and secondary schools, and in fact even college and graduate school, without ever learning anything that teaches them to build wealth. The simple fact is that wealth creation techniques, such as those taught by Universal Wealth Creation work for people of all walks of life, of all ages, and all levels of education. The ’secret’ to wealth creation is not accessing the most education; it is accessing the right kind of education, and applying what you know for your own benefit with effectiveness. The path to enjoying that secret success is exceedingly varied. The means to that end, in respect to occupation, is not the function that matters.

I will see you back here Monday and Thursday every week for the continuation of the Mindset Mastery series.

G,day Sean,
now I understand more about mindset & education , I look back at my parents & the struggles they had making ends meet. They did what they could to survive basicly , when all they really needed was the rite education, it is almost criminal that the education system does not revise & upgrade the current system. I know this is one of Jamie,s ultimate goals, what are your thoughts on how far down the track this may become a reality.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!! mate, have a great day.

regards

Allen

Hi Allen
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
We need a collective change of consciousness. All I mean here is that people just need to start thinking on a different level. One that they are already aware of but are basically not quite prepared to do onmasse. Many are doing this now and you can see the change across the globe. People are not putting up with the lies from the politicians and corporations (as much as before). I wouldn’t be surprised to see some massive revolts start up in places like: “The greatest Democracy in the World”. It’s fine to say we have great standards but that isn’t all that nice when we also have more and more people living in poverty, happily sponsored by (and compliments of) our loyal world leaders who line their dis-loyal pockets with oil money and blood money from drugs and god knows what else they get up to.
People are becoming more aware. This is the awareness that will make the world a much better place. It’s good now and we can make it much better simply from a collective awareness of our need to educate and help those who want it.
I’ll get off my soapbox now. Thanks Allen :)

We seem to lose sight sometimes of the more finer things in life. Most people end up working for the system and don’t understand why things they are they way they are. They just need a guiding star a reference point, to point them in the right direction , then we can all make a difference, because we can all be so much more.

Oh! By the Way Happy Birthday Sean, Cheers buddy. I will drink one for you. Have a beautiful Day

Jake

Sean-isn’t it amazing how little people are taught about success? Even the basics like showing up on time and giving more than you are paid for. Like having a positive attitude, a vision, and goals.

I think this is to be expected. Pareto’s law applies to everything including success and personal development. Only 20% are ready to learn and apply the principles. Only 4% (the top 20% of the top 20%) apply them consistently.

I think it is an amazing process. People all ave the ability to be successful. It’s within them to be tapped and used at their convenience, however many choose not to.

Hi Sean,

I think it would be great if children were taught in school the principles of success of how to create wealth and live the life they dream of. But, since we don’t have that yet, we should be grateful that books like ‘Think and Grow Rich’ exist because of men like Napoleon Hill and you who make this book free for anyone who wants a copy.

All of us who have families and children have a responsibility to learn these lessons and pass the information on to our children. We can make the world a better place one family at a time.

Jazz, there is a theory that school as we know it was NOT invented for that.

I certainly agree about spreading the message though. Imagine how great a community we would have, if everyone was just giving/contributing as well as they could, just because they wanted to; if everyone had no reason to ‘take’ anymore.

Hi Jo,

That would be awesome but I can’t see it happening any time soon. All we can do is create this in our own families; in our own little corner of the world.

I think it all starts with us. Now, I have to go and make sure that I give today and I’m a little less selfish than I might normally be. :)

Hi Sean,

Imagine how we would prosper as a nation if wealth creation were taught at school. This is such a magnificent thing you are doing, really! You are taking the teachings of Napoleon Hill to THE WORLD!

I think Sean Rasmussen is also a great philanthropist,

Thanks,

Jill.

There were at least 3 subjects I did at secondary school that have had very little benefit for me in adult life. Someone should have done a cost benefit study. Maybe they would have scrapped those useless subjects and replaced them with a Mindset Mastery based course.

I completely agree Wal – I can think of a couple of subjects myself which I have had nil use out of since finishing school. I can also think of a few uni subjects which were core requirements of my degree, but frankly added little in the way of education.

There is much lacking from a modern education and too much time dedicated to learning content which isn’t necessarily going to provide benefit going forward.

It is about the right kind of education (and motivation) that will help you live a great life. Today we have the option to spread the word to everybody about the knowledge that is available, as Sean is doing here. Slowly but surely that will help everybody who is interested to achieve their life goals. And they will pass it on to the ones that follow, more and more with every generation. I will do my bit as much as I can.

If I decide to home school my child it is going to be almost purely on the basis of Hill’s/ Carnegie’s key principles of success. When reading The Science of Succees by Wallace D Wattles I was flabergasted by the concepts and impressed at the ideas. At first I found the book terribly boring but in the end I was so thankful I read it and learned so much from it. I am where I am today because of his book and The Secret and know I’ll be further along in my achievements when I’ve read from cover to cover Think and Grow Rich.

Hi Sean,
I know a woman who said she passed her exams to became a school teacher and she had not opened one text book in Uni. Meaning she did not study at all to pass.

If I had school age children today I would be very judicious about sending any student to a public school. I would definitely be looking for alternatives.

I think the idea of home schooling is a much better option. I believe the students will have greater opportunities, and superior educational standards than they would have by attending any public school today.

I too don’t believe that I learned much of benefit to wealth building in school. Nor were many of my college courses any better. The books I’ve read from people who have built wealth and wrote about it were much more educational. Unfortunately I wasn’t ready for them at the time I read them. Thankfully, I am now.

Hi Elizabeth,

you made an interesting comment there “I wasn’t ready for them at the time I read them”. Not sure, but maybe that is a reason why it is not part of the school curriculum yet. Nobody has come up with tools and books for kids to understand the concepts of wealth building.

I guess children of people who live by these concepts don’t have to learn them at school because they soak them up at home. For us others there is everything out there to be learned once we are ready to actually get it.

Hi Sean

I agree that wealth building be taught in schools but I doubt that it will. There is a hierarchy to hold up in the Governments eyes and they don’t want a whole country full of rich people running around having fun.

Money = Power and this power comes through choice. If everyone was rich, there would be no ants to do all the menial tasks and keep the councils and Government departments funded.

When Universities were free, too many people were being educated. Now the charges and entry requirements are ridiculous, because the Gov would like the majority of people to remain blue collar and below living from pay cheque to pay cheque so they can be manipulated at election time.

Therefore it is up to all of us individually who are fortunate to come across these precious gems of wealth and wisdom, to take action, prove it can be done and then pass on the information to whoever wants to learn.

Thankyou Sean for becoming successful and passing on your knowledge to all of us. All this work you have done is totally appreciated.

Blessings
Elly

Hi Elly,

just on the topic of “When Universities were free, too many people were being educated.” – in Germany they are still more or less free. Yes, they have introduced a fee now, but it is a few hundred dollars only I think.

Up to a few years ago there were no charges to go to Uni in Germany. So do we now have too many educated people over there? No. Because the money they pour into the Universities is missing in kindergarden and primary education. This way there are not that many that actually qualify to go to Uni as they don’t get through the basic schooling that is necessary first.

From that experience I think it is much more important to make sure everybody has a good basic school training (yes, really the basics like reading, writing, math and maybe a foreign language) plus some life training. That would include wealth training and people like Napoleon Hill.

That way more people would find their passion earlier and do what they love – which (hopefully) would lead to less frustration overall.
