You’re right; we all have faults so we can’t and shouldn’t expect perfection in anyone else. The only thing I ask for is the ability to be honest enough to admit when you’ve made a mistake and apologize for it.

When we take on all those qualities that Mr Hill has endorsed as leadership qualities, then we will know what to look for in a leader.

We can’t expect our leaders to be perfect when we know that as human beings, we have many blemishes ourselves.

Hi Renee,

This is an excellent point. I’ve always felt like I had to be able to do everything before I could ask someone else to do something for me.

In reality though, I just need to know what outcomes I need, then I should be able to trust my team members to do their jobs. Thank-you; you’ve just freed up a lot of my time trying to learn to do things I don’t really need.

Very true. It is such a reflection on ourselves as to what habits our children pick up, for instance. A lot of children who have witnessed their parents divorce will not completely trust a romantic relationship, for example. We need to always be a true reflection of ourselves as we’re not always the one staring back.

The best reflection is a smiling one.

Forced leadership does not create teamwork, merely resentment and collapse of the mutual efforts intended. A great leader is not necessarily a great follower but connects with the people he/she leads.
