Mindset Mastery 42 – Magnetizing Your Mind

by Sean Rasmussen on September 15, 2008

Mindset Mastery ebook by Sean RasmussenIn Captains Of Our Souls, Napoleon Hill felt that Henley could have done more for us with his quote of inspiration. In addition to telling us that we are our own fateful Masters, and adding to that the fact that we direct our fate in the direction of our thoughts, Hill goes on to prescribe more that he feels we should know.

Magnetized Thoughts

He should have told us, too, that our brains become magnetized with the dominating thoughts we hold in our minds, and, inexplicably, these “magnets” attract to us the forces, the people, the life circumstances, that correspond with our dominating thoughts. In other words, if you feel poor and stepped-on, you will attract people to you of similar character and circumstance; but if you believe you are successful and well-off, those are the people and circumstances that will dominate your interactions and influence your life consequentially.

Magnetize Your Mind For Success

Henley should have told us that before we can accumulate wealth in abundance, we first have to magnetize our minds with intense desire for riches, that we must become “money conscious” until the innate desire for money drives us to create definite plans for acquiring it.

But, because he was a poet and not a philosopher, Henley was content to simply state a great truth poetically, and leave it to those who followed him to interpret the philosophical meaning of his lines.

And so we absolve Henley of responsibility. Thanks to Napoleon Hill, though, we are not left in the lurch. He has so advantageously taken it upon himself to show us the depth of what Henley implies, and to shape our thoughts and desires in the way that will elicit wealth and success, and not the alternative, which could just as easily be. This lays the foundation for the structure of the wealthy mindset and of being rich. It is all so elemental in achieving that life that is simple to acquire in concept, yet elusive to the great majority nonetheless.

I will see you back here every Monday and Friday for the continuation of the Mindset Mastery series.

In the next part I will talk to you about Revelations.

Hi Sean,
This just reinforces everything I believe and it gives me great hope that I can attract to me everything I want. I love that my brain becomes ‘magnetized’ with the thoughts that dominate my mind. I love that I am attracting people and circumstances that mirror my thoughts.
I work really hard at controlling my thoughts and I understand that the more I can focus my thoughts on what I desire, the sooner I will create this in my life. I don’t always get it right, but I am getting better each day.

That’s very encouraging Jazz – we don’t always get it right – but with persistence we can get it more and more so.

Hi Peter,

No, we don’t always get it right. But when you understand what’s at stake here you make the effort to try and get on top of it every day. I mean think about what you’re thinking right this minute.

Do you want that in your life? Yes/No It’s a simple choice but there’s still far too much time when I don’t get it right. But, I’m getting there.

Magnetizing your mind – sometimes it feels to me a bit like the chicken-and-hen story. What was there first?

I am magnetizing my minds and my thoughts to achieve my goals. That also means that I read all the relevant books I can get my hands on, search the internet for sources and people that might help me on my way and think about what else I can and need to do all the time. For me that means I am moving towards my goal already. And because my thoughts are all on that one target I see the world different, always with that scanner in there “could that help me? Could she help me? Would that work?”.

And – all of a sudden – I see all the opportunities laid out in front of me. Pulled into my view because of my dominant thoughts. I just love it :)

Many years ago there was this extremal shy quiet person who would always stand right at the back of a room as close to the door as possible, for the quickest escape.
That has changed, and although not at the front yet The goal is to get up on stage and help people change their thoughts and believe in themselves and what they can achieve in their lives.

Hi Sean,
Thank goodness Napoleon Hill noticed that Henley did not explain his writings and took on the job.
Magnetize the mind with desire to be “money conscious” I’m sure to be successful!

Sounds good. I just love these readings Sean,

Thanks,

Simple truths are always enormously complex, like the master bricklayer who creates magic with cement and clay in the seemingly ‘twinkle of any eye’, or the IM marketer who can rank on the top eschelon of Google in 24 hours or less, aor a baby who is born. Such supreme co-ordination of skills, talent, and the culmination of practice, bring on the illusion of ease, and in the big picture it IS easy. Repliucation just requires knowledge and practice of the technique that works, and the results happen. I’m thinking this in itself is one of the marvels of life.

Now that we know this there is no excuse for anything. Each of us has created our lives so far. Individually and collectively we have magnetized what we perceive around us. End of story.

Hi Sean,
Interesting concept to magnetizing the mind. Makes sense as the power of magnetism and magnets in general is still so very much unknown and therefor needs to be respected until fully understood.

Another area to watch out for when checking my thoughts. This article has helped me understand why it is important to check and control thoughts. Very helpful, thank-you.

Hi Sean

After reading your post I am reminded of a splendid gentleman by the name of Reverend Ike, from USA, who I listened to on tape many times, many years ago. He was of the exact same conviction as Napoleon Hill and his recording was even called “magnetize your mind for money”.

The recording was taken from one of his church sermons ( very controversial but I thought he was a champion) as he taught his practitioners how to become wealthy and that it was their right to do so.

One sentence stood out for me. He said “money is like a high class women, you gotta treat her with respect – or she will leave you”
There is a lesson in that for all of us don’t you think?

Blessings
Elly

Hi Elly,

Reverend Ike sounds like a very smart man. I think you definitely have to get your thinking right so you can attract what you want into your life.

But, once it’s here you really have to treat it with respect because if you don’t; it will be gone before you know it. It’s kind of like the people who win Lotto and then end up even more broke and destitute than they were before they won it.

Magnetizing the mind is a fantastic way to attract what you want. Although one thing to note is that we must be careful about the polarity. We want the positive polarity to attract all that is good in life, wealth, success, health, happiness, all that we dream of, while all the bad is repulsed, refused, buried in our past as that which no longer has a hold on us.

“these “magnets” attract to us the forces, the people, the life circumstances, that correspond with our dominating thoughts.”

And, I think the reverse would be true too. If we can possess such a ‘magnetized’ mind then others with a similar desire and mindset will be attracted to us.

‘we must become “money conscious” ” – that phrase concerns me a little – in that it could lead to being obsessed with money – or be interpreted as such.

Of course the point is somewhat different – if we consider this point “if you feel poor and stepped-on, you will attract people to you of similar character and circumstance;” and you will setlle for less …. whereas, “if you believe you are successful and well-off, those are the people and circumstances that will dominate your interactions and influence your life”.

Focus or obession?

That is an interesting point Peter – Focus or Obsession?
I really think it would come down to what each persons individual life-view, perceptions & intentions are.

For instance, I automatically think of the statement, ‘we must become “money conscious”’ from a “positive intent” viewpoint, having some (allbeit limited) understanding of the “Law Of Attraction” & “Magnetizing Your Mind”.
Therefore I (choose to) see it from the Focus viewpoint.

Whereas someone with no experience, interest or understanding in magnetized thoughts or any kind of Mindset Mastery will usually (choose to) see it through a “negative intent” filter, either becoming Obsessed themselves with “want” for money, or simply poo-pooing the ideas of others who choose to Focus their desire for wealth in a positive way…
;)

You’re right Mel. I was also thinking of how materialistic our society has become. We are obsessed with having to have, not just money, but all the latest in fashion, houses, cars, vacations and so on. Too many judge others by the ‘money’ they have.

Of course, Sean’s education in this arena is quite different – his focus is on the postive and this is backed up by him, and many commenters here, addressing the need to pay it forward and to share as much as we can in different ways.

Yes I’m finding that wherever my mind is focused is the person I meet next; I’ve met some really great people in the last year that are like-minded in heaps of good ways so now I’m aware it is conscious choice who I’m attracting, I can make bigger bolder efforts and attract all sorts! Loving this series- really helpful!

I love the thought of being able to “Magnetize Your Mind For Success”!
This also seems to be a popular & very appropriate quote in this arena:
“If you want to see your past, look at your present results, if you want to see your future, look at your present actions” :)

I like this “if you want to see your future, look at your present actions” – my present actions are becoming very much more focussed in this comp and where I can follow up on it all.
