Hi Renee,

Yes, I think most of us have heard too many of these kinds of things growing up. I think the important thing to remember is that this can't hurt us unless we allow it to. It takes work but we can rid ourselves of the effects of this type of thing.

The past was an experience; good or bad, and now it's over. We don't have to bring it with us into the future. We get to choose everyday what we want for ourselves.

Hi Jo,

Very well said. I'm always planting thoughts of success in my mind but it feels like the weeding is never done. I have to be constantly on guard because some of those negative seeds are very sneaky.

They always seem to show up when I'm tired and busy. Then, if I don't remove them immediately, they can really get a foothold. Still, my healthy crop of success and wealth thoughts is growing larger every day.

There is a self confidence that is independent of environment. This is easy to ameliorate. Then there is self confidence that is context related. It depends upon what we are doing. This is also affected by the same processes as the first, we use appropriate tools while either visualizing or being physically in the environmental context. The latter context may require repetition before gaining that level of confidence called 'unconscious competence'.

I am quite at home with the usage of nature as metaphor - I have used it most of my life. The richness, and the bounty available is just so huge. Weeding our minds is actually easy when we pay attention to it. Have you noticed how some of the long -standing ones take a season or two to remove. Diligence is all it takes. Know for sure you won't rest till the job's done, while being content for daily achievements, and our crop will grow. As Sean says, just remember to choose our plants with care.

"Weed out the seeds of negativity, fear, hesitation, and failure". Nicely said.

I spent 2 months on an organic vegetable farm in Japan in 2008 and I just loved working on the land. We planted, sowed, harvested and ate the fruits of our labour. There's nothing like explaining this stuff using nature, because that's all everything is anyway.
