Mindset Mastery 79 – Self-Suggestion Success

by Sean Rasmussen on January 30, 2009

Mindset Mastery eBookAuto-suggestion is a simple action, but one that can be used in many ways. Napoleon Hill introduces it as a way to build faith, but as you’ll see it’s a useful concept for many things.

What Is Auto-Suggestion?

The proof is simple and easily demonstrated. It is wrapped up in the principle of auto-suggestion. So, let’s center our attention on the subject of self-suggestion, and find out what it is, and what it is capable of achieving.

It is a well known fact that if you repeat something to yourself enough, you will eventually come to believe it, whether the statement is true or false. If a man repeats a lie over and over, he will eventually accept the lie as truth. Moreover, he will believe that it is the truth. Every man (or woman) is what he (she) is, because of the dominating thoughts that person allows to occupy his (her) mind. Thoughts which a man deliberately places in his own mind, and encourages with sympathy, and with which he mixes any one or more of the emotions, constitute the motivating forces that direct and control his every movement, act, and deed!

A Moment Of Truth

There comes now a very significant statement of truth:

Thoughts mixed with any of the feelings of emotions constitute a “magnetic” force which attracts other similar or related thoughts. A thought “magnetized” with emotion in this way can be compared to a seed which, when planted in fertile soil, germinates, grows, and multiplies itself over and over again, until what was originally one small seed becomes countless millions of seeds of the same kind!

Thoughts Are Things

Thoughts are things—it’s a timeless and elemental concept of this book, probably one of the most well-known from it, and one shared with the Law of Attraction–powerful stuff!. And here we see the seed that becomes the root of that concept—building in ourselves a habit of positive thinking capable of supporting the biggest and best things we do!

That means we all make our own truth – something that puts a lot of responsibility on us. But also unlimited possibilities – totally awesome!

So true, unfortunately most of what we are saying to ourselves are lies. We forget that we are in charge of our internal dialogue and most of the time it is lying to us telling us we aren’t good enough, or that we can’t achieve this or that. Changing this is half the battle.

Hi Sean,

This is such a powerful concept. Auto-suggestion can help us to convince our subconscious mind that a thought is real. We will act in accordance with what we believe. The more we blend thoughts with emotions, the more we encourage similar thoughts. These thoughts will help to create our desires.

It all seems so simple. Our thoughts drive our actions. If we believed we had already achieved our desires and acted as if it was so; we would have the real thing in our lives in no time flat.

I’m getting better and better at directing my thoughts every day.

All of us have used that seed – but more often than not in a negative way. Towards ourselves and others. So I think it’s finally time to accept that it REALLY works that easy and use it to our advantage. And for our kids. And and and.

I guess it’s too easy for a lot of people (“it has to be complicated to be worth something”) – but I am using it and will become a professional in it! That’s my promise to myself and the world!

Hi Renee,

We can definitely learn to do this. The law of auto-suggestion can be mastered. Napoleon Hill and Sean say so. Now we just have to set about making this a habit through Napoleon Hill’s formulas.

I love to use the six step plan and the self confidence formula. Honestly, once we fully understand that the dominating thoughts that we hold in our mind become our reality; we understand we need to flood our mind with repetitive thoughts of our desires.

Then, we’ll see our desires appear in our life.

Not only do we have to think and decide what we want but also picture and feel it in our possession.
Close your eyes see it, feel it, feel how you feel when you posses it.

The first time I learned this, I had a rush of mixed emotions. But mainly empowerment. It’s very empowering to know that your thoughts create things.

Hi Wal,

I find it amazing that all of the secrets to success are basically hidden in plain sight. I bet most people could parrot them off if they were asked.

The difference is being able to consistently apply them. Anyone can think positive when times are good. It’s when everything is going to hell in a hand basket that it really becomes apparent if you can truly think positive or not.

I really think the key is to make having a successful mindset a way of life. Not an occasional thing but an everyday thing. I’m still working on it.
