Mindset Mastery 74 – Developing Faith
In the last Mindset Mastery post we were introduced to faith, and we discussed the point that faith is different than religion or spirituality. Here, Hill takes us further, explaining how faith can be developed in people for whom it is a foreign concept.
How To Develop Faith
Mr. Hill has given us a statement which will give a better understanding of the importance the principle of auto-suggestion assumes in the transference of desire into its physical, or monetary equivalent. Faith is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of auto-suggestion.
Case In Point
As illustration, consider why you are, presumably, reading this book. The object is, naturally, to gain the ability to transmute the intangible thought impulse of desire into its physical counterpart–money. By following the instructions laid down in the chapters on auto-suggestion and the subconscious, which are summarized in the chapter on auto-suggestion, you can convince the subconscious that you believe you will receive what it is you are asking for, and your subconscious will act on that belief; your subconscious mind passes this belief back to you in the form of “faith,” along with definite plans for procuring the wealth you desire.
A Faithful State Of Mind
The method for developing faith where it does not already exist is extremely difficult to describe; almost as difficult, in fact, as it would be to describe the color of red to a blind man who has never seen color, and has no basis for comparison. Faith is a state of mind which you can develop at will, after you have mastered the thirteen principles, because it is a state of mind which develops voluntarily, through the application and use of these principles.
Repeating and reaffirming orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith.
A Lesson For Modern Living
This message is probably even more timely now than it was when Hill first wrote it. In Hill’s time, faith and religion were more widely practiced concepts. It is to our great benefit that Hill had the foresight to understand the difference between faith and religion, and also to understand that there are a number of people who simply do not know what faith really is, or how to encompass it into their being. Once again, Hill shows a clarity beyond his time, and builds from it a timeless message for success.
