Hi Sean,

This story is amazing and it always reminds me of one of my closest friends. It was Christmas time and my friend’s daughter was standing on the footpath of a suburban street looking at Christmas lights on a house. She was run over by a drunk driver.

She was rushed into surgery and the Doctors told my friend that her beloved daughter would not make it out of surgery. She did. Then they said, call everyone because she won’t make it through the night. She did. Three more times they took her into surgery and each time the Doctors said, she wouldn’t make it. She did. Next, the Doctors needed to cut off her leg because they didn’t think they could save it.

My friend said no. In the face of extreme pressure from Doctors and family and friends; she quietly said no. She said, “from the minute my daughter was brought in, you said that she would die. She lives. I want her to have every chance of a full recovery. I believe she will be fine”. Today, she walks with two healthy legs because my friend desired a full recovery for her daughter.

This is such an inspiring story. It's always cool to see people overcoming challenges that would break many others. I'm reading an excellent book right now, Wrestling With the Goddess, by Azeem Kayum in which he tells his story of how he has overcome physical and mental challenges to become a speaker and inspiration to many.
