Hi Colin,

I agree. There are far too many people around the world struggling and they don't have access to our education or our opportunities. I feel like we owe it to them to make the most of every opportunity that's presented to us.

Then I think we need to take our wealth and give back to people who don't have the same chances as us.

The very freedom and security we have is porbably the very reason we are so risk aversive. We don't 'need' to move out of it. Nothing really threatens us - except our ennui perhaps (?).

Instead of 'laid back' we have become "laid out".

You may well be right Jazz. Too 'comfy' a comfort zone can make us risk aversive - especially in this too fast paced world.

It makes me think of China at the moment - although it is frenetically moving ahead over there - there is still no comfort zone for the vast majority and many are just taking the chance to seek, learn and jump right into what is either still somewhat strange or was forbidden 30 years ago.

Part of it is the pace or busy-ness of our world. We don't 'take' time to slow down and not just reflect about our own talents (fulfilled or not) but we often don't take the time to help other realize their talents - and especially those of our kids.

I love gardening for the very reason that it makes me take a break and smell the roses (literally in some cases!)

Reading does it for me too - how often do people take' time out' and just curl up with a good thriller to relax. Sometimes the housework can wait, a little dust never hurt anyone - and so what if the grass is too long.

It is also sad when society does not give the freedom to people to express their gifts and be all they can be.
