In the last Mindset Mastery post we saw first-hand how a thought is the sole foundation of your financial life—be it wealthy or poor; of course our example was one of wealth, but if you noticed the last couple of sentences you surely noted that your thoughts can be a basis for poverty or financial struggle just as easily. Even though this is a conscious knowledge that relies heavily on the cooperation of the subconscious mind, there are ways for you to train that part of your brain to maximise thought performance. This is what Chapter four of Mindset Mastery is all about.
Auto Suggestion – The Medium For Influencing The Subconscious Mind
The Third Step toward Riches
Auto-suggestion is a term which applies to all suggestions and all self-administered stimuli which reach one’s mind through the five senses. In other words, auto-suggestion is self-suggestion. It is the communication agent between that part of the mind where conscious thought takes place, and the part that serves as the seat of action for the subconscious.
Through the dominating thoughts an individual permits to stay in the conscious mind, (whether these thoughts be negative or positive, is irrelevant), the principle of auto-suggestion voluntarily reaches the subconscious mind and influences it with these thoughts.
Guarding Your Mind
No thought, whether it be negative or positive, can enter the subconscious mind without the help of the principle of auto-suggestion, with the exception of thoughts picked up from environmental stimuli. To put it another way, all sense impressions perceived directly through the five senses, are stopped by the conscious thinking mind, and may be either passed on to the subconscious mind, or rejected at will. The conscious faculty serves, therefore, as an outer-guard to the subconscious.
Developing A Wealthy Subconscious
So much of what we think and do in regards to money, finance, and wealth is the product of what we don’t even realize we are thinking—of the subconscious mind. When you begin to understand your subconscious financial attitude and to take control of all your thinking, you have indeed developed a mindset for success—the wealthy mindset of a millionaire. You’ll find that when you learn to understand your subconscious attitudes towards money, making those corrections that you know need making becomes a much easier thing to do. It’s the difference between thinking about a change and actually accomplishing it…and it’s quite an accomplishment once you’ve learned to do it!
