Mindset Mastery 98 – The Third Step Toward Riches

Mindset Mastery eBookIn the last Mindset Mastery post we saw first-hand how a thought is the sole foundation of your financial life—be it wealthy or poor; of course our example was one of wealth, but if you noticed the last couple of sentences you surely noted that your thoughts can be a basis for poverty or financial struggle just as easily. Even though this is a conscious knowledge that relies heavily on the cooperation of the subconscious mind, there are ways for you to train that part of your brain to maximise thought performance. This is what Chapter four of Mindset Mastery is all about.

Auto Suggestion – The Medium For Influencing The Subconscious Mind

The Third Step toward Riches

Auto-suggestion is a term which applies to all suggestions and all self-administered stimuli which reach one’s mind through the five senses. In other words, auto-suggestion is self-suggestion. It is the communication agent between that part of the mind where conscious thought takes place, and the part that serves as the seat of action for the subconscious.

Permission Granted?

Through the dominating thoughts an individual permits to stay in the conscious mind, (whether these thoughts be negative or positive, is irrelevant), the principle of auto-suggestion voluntarily reaches the subconscious mind and influences it with these thoughts.

Guarding Your Mind

No thought, whether it be negative or positive, can enter the subconscious mind without the help of the principle of auto-suggestion, with the exception of thoughts picked up from environmental stimuli. To put it another way, all sense impressions perceived directly through the five senses, are stopped by the conscious thinking mind, and may be either passed on to the subconscious mind, or rejected at will. The conscious faculty serves, therefore, as an outer-guard to the subconscious.

Developing A Wealthy Subconscious

So much of what we think and do in regards to money, finance, and wealth is the product of what we don’t even realize we are thinking—of the subconscious mind. When you begin to understand your subconscious financial attitude and to take control of all your thinking, you have indeed developed a mindset for success—the wealthy mindset of a millionaire. You’ll find that when you learn to understand your subconscious attitudes towards money, making those corrections that you know need making becomes a much easier thing to do. It’s the difference between thinking about a change and actually accomplishing it…and it’s quite an accomplishment once you’ve learned to do it!

  1. Hi Sean,
I think everyone would have to agree that once you can change what your sub-conscious thinks, you can achieve amazing things. I had a shift in my mind just recently and because I am doing a lot of self-development, it is hard to put the finger on what “did it” exactly. All I can say is that you feel amazing once you take the steps you need toward your goal rather than JUST thinking or talking about it. This shift allowed me to take action even with my busy life. I had to also go from saying “I don’t have time” to “I can do 1/2 an hour a day toward this”. Telling my mind this allowed me to make time; and don’t we all have busy lives?

    Thanks for your blog Sean.

    Forever a student,

    • We do all have busy lives and when those situations get me down I now know how to pick myself up. If I can I sit by myself and instead of concentrating on why I’m sad/mad/frustrated etc I review the things I’m most grateful for. The list is never ending and by the time I’m needed somewhere I no longer remember why I was upset before.

I am having a difficult time refraining from highlighting when someone else is being negative but am slowly realizing it’s the positive things they say I need to focus on and commend them for.

    Hi Sean,

The law of auto-suggestion is such a powerful tool. This is an excellent way to direct my subconscious mind to focus on positive thoughts that will help me achieve my goals.

I know that I have to work at this. It will take constant vigilance to guard my mind against those thoughts that seek to de-rail my success. Namely my former friends, fear, self doubt and worry.

Still, the more I convince my subconscious mind that my dreams are already a reality; the more it will work to create my dreams in real life.

  3. It’s fascinating how much influence our mind has on our life, especially the subconscious. It is a miracle. And even after thousands of years we have not really learned how to use that supercomputer constantly to our advantage.

But we can program it any way we like – with auto suggestions, with guarding our mind, with living conscious and making sure we take our decisions and don’t leave that to habits or fear, self doubt, worry and the like.

There are so many tools out there to help us – let’s use them and become the best person we can be.

    • Hi Renee,

I am so glad that I’ve finally learned how important it is to control my subconscious mind. I think this is one of the biggest benefits of reading Sean’s Mindset Mastery series.

Day after day, I’m reading post after post and the information is slowly being absorbed by my subconscious mind. I think it’s the small changes that I’m making each day that are going to make the big difference in the long run.

  4. The first time you ever look out your subconscious attitudes towards money, it’s fascinating! Then, if you’re like most people, there’s a whole mental detox that has to occur if you want to create an abundance of wealth. Very interesting process and I have Chris Howard to thank for helping me through it.

  5. Every day I check my bank account online and no longer is it to see what came out of my account but instead what went in and how much money I have. It’s amazing the difference this has made in the last few weeks.

Sean, I love that each post you have relates back to the prior one and doesn’t jump from topic to topic. The thread that links all your posts is turning into a rope for me, one that so many like minded people are attached to. Thank you!
