Mindset Mastery 84 – Set Your Sails

Mindset Mastery eBookAutosuggestion will pull you in one of two directions—up or down, either towards or away from success. As we said last time, that choice is up to you.

Setting Sail To Success

Like the wind that carries one ship east and another west, the law of auto-suggestion will lift you up or pull you down according to the way you set your sails of thought.

The law of auto-suggestion, through which any person can rise to staggering altitudes of achievement, is quite well described in the following verse:

“If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.

“If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will—
It’s all in the state of mind.

“If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

“Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can!”

If you pay attention to the words that are emphasized, you’ll catch the deeper meaning the poet intended.

Think And You Will Be

Think; be sure of yourself; it’s all in your state of mind.

These are the words the poet emphasized, and no truer words have been spoken or written. Whatever you think you are you will be. Start thinking better of yourself and your chances for success, and you will start being that and more from this moment forward!

We as humans sometimes put obstacles in our way, I know I do and what for, well I guess my up bringing has helped me along that path, but with a new philosophy on life a new direction I’m sure with time I will be a better person and provider for my family.

    • Just a few days ago I read in a book something about obstacles that I really liked:

“Obstacles can be turned into stepping stones towards success”

So even with an obstacle we have a choice – to accept it as an obstacle or to see it and treat it as a stepping stone towards even greater success. Our choice.

  2. G’day Sean,
What a ripper ! Decided to print out the poem to take to our office where we have lots of people who think, and what’s worse, SAY negative things such as ” I could never do that…………..etc ” and they are nearly always correct – funny about that.
    Well done again Sean
    Cheers

  4. I really really love the part about the Law of Auto-Suggestion!
So simple, so true, so important to every day life!

Thank you for this post! I needed it today!

We may know this stuff, but we do need to be reminded!

    Thanks friend!

    Hi Sean,

I love the poem. It’s so simple and yet so true.

I think the law of auto-suggestion is one of the most powerful concepts I have seen. I am learning to apply it and the only thing I need to master now is to have the discipline to do it day in and day out. Sometimes a tough day will present more of a challenge and fear will rear its ugly head.

I printed out the formula for success and I’m now using that daily and I feel it really helps. So, consistency will be mine in a very short space of time.:)

  6. It’s really absurd why most of us do not get told this stuff right at the beginning of our life. It would make everything so much easier.

A bit like you go to school to learn, but nobody helps you to figure out your best way to learn things. That is left to yourself, even with the risk that you fail at school. Just because nobody bothered to teach you how to learn before you started learning.

Likewise we start to think and manifest without really understanding that we are doing it and therefore not using it in the best possible way. I hope future generations get this as part of their upbringing, or latest as integral part of their school learnings.

  7. Do you think reading every single one of these blog posts in a short space of time will count as autosuggestions 🙂 ? If I start dreaming about Napoleon Hill for the next few nights, I won’t wonder why… 🙂

    • Hi Lina,

You know I think they are kind of like auto-suggestions. I did read the Mindset Mastery series from cover to cover the first time around. I really feel like reading it that way helped to cement the concepts in my mind.

I found it made a huge difference to how I feel and I love it. I’m grateful for the competition for this reason alone. Without it I don’t know that I would have made the effort to seek them out and read them all at once.

  8. Hi Sean,
It’s a bit scary to think there may be a lot of truth in the poem. Is so it means to be on guard all the time as to how to think correctly.

I agree with Renee’s comment so wholeheartedly. Why is this way of thinking not encouraged by schools and parents made aware of the benefits of teaching children to think correctly about themselves?

Hello, something very wrong here with educational standards.

  9. Hi Sean
I love this verse. I dabble in Calligraphy, and have kept a copy to ‘do up’ into birthday cards for some younger members of my family.

@Jill, perhaps we can do something to answer your question. Spread the word (as if you are not already! )

  10. Dr Paul Brunton was drawn to Arunachala in India. There he met a guru called Ramana. Ramana told him to ask himself repeatedly “Who am I?” In asking this question he attained a higher state of illumination. States of mind imply “being” states. “Who am I?” We need to be careful how we state how we are. “I am happy” is good because it tends to attract to us more happiness. Identity.

  11. Hi Sean,
I don’t think I can, I know I can. It has taken time for me to see that I could do anything I wanted to do, and with some encouragement form those who believe in me I am a Winner no matter what.

    • Hi Rita,

Yes, you can do it. I see you overcoming obstacles and improving all the time. It won’t be long before you have the success you want.

So, keep believing in yourself and you can do anything.
