When you have been at the start of a bushfire and see just how fast it can travel you realise the power caused by the combination of heat, wind and the unpredictability of a fire as it can change direction so quickly.
The destruction and heart break touched every Australian in this case and we hope and pray that this will not happen again but the threat is ever present.

Thankfully, the weather has become cooler and wetter this year. It seems to coincide with a solar minimum. There are 0 sunspots as I type this. Climatologists have equated lower sunspot numbers with cooler temperatures. But if the sunspot numbers go up again, which they could next year, and if global warming through atmospheric pollution continues (which seems highly likely given that no country is doing enough to stop it and many are being fooled by this solar minimum phenomenon into believing that global warming is a myth) then fierce bushfires can be expected to threaten again in future years. We must be vigilant and take positive action to reduce the negative impact.

Hello Sean,

A year has gone by really quickly, but for those that are affected it probably seems like only yesterday.

I am glad that it did not become about how much money/or how much little money was or wasn’t donated. Its not about us, its about the Victorians – they need to be thought of first. What I get upset with is when someone in Australia does the right thing by giving a helping hand (either with money or time) and others feel like they have a right to bring them down. That’s not being a true Aussie.

May those that lost their life R.I.P, and those that are trying to re-build and move on know that they are loved.
