Sydney Social Media Seminar

by Sean Rasmussen on May 16, 2009

SydneyThis week I have traveled across the country to attend the Sydney Social Media Seminar. I am astounded by the amount of people that turn up at our Internet Marketing events. This weekend we have around 300 people in the room. Sydney has turned out in force and it makes me happy to know that people are opening up to Social Media and Internet Marketing. We are currently living in a so-called “financial downturn” and I do not accept  a “slow-down” just because the media and politicians tell us so.

I accept that businesses and individuals are struggling. What I don’t accept is that we are expected to accept defeat and slow ourselves down. Life goes on and we are in charge of our own destiny – nobody else is! Don’t put your life on hold at any stage in life just because someone else says so! Learning about Social Media changed my life and I am fortunate enough to have the luxury to share it with lots of new friends in these seminars.

Sydney Social Media

I have chosen this name for a reason that is fueled with passion: Sydney Social Media Seminar. For those of you that know me personally, you know my life is fueled and governed by passion. I am passionate about Social Media and that is why I travel across Australia to places like Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and even overseas soon to London. I love to teach and share ways for people to break out of the Rat Race and become happier with more success in their life. Success comes in many different packages and it is not all about money. Money is just ONE tool in the equation of success. There are many more tools and as an Internet Marketer, I know that Social Media is a great, effective and very fun tool in that equation.

Next time I’m over this way, be sure to come along and see me at the next Sydney Internet Marketing event.

Why Social Media Rocks

I love this catch-cry: Social Media Rocks! I started using that phrase because it allows me to be more social with people across the world without having to invite everyone home for dinner. Using New Media Tools like Twitter, Digg and Facebook, allows me to interact with like-minded people who enjoy the same things as me in life. I actually don’t apply Internet Marketing through Social Media very much at all. I simply use it to build rapport with people. It is no different to making friends in real life – just it’s online. oh yeah, and it’s fun!

Social Media on the Beach

Last time I traveled to Sydney, I had my wife and 2 sons with me. We were on our way to Vanuatu and Social Media played a big role for us while we stayed in Port Vila, Vanuatu. I took my sons Scuba Diving and blogged about it. We gave it some publicity through Twitter, Facebook and Digg. The results were great and my New Media friends got to share this experience with me. We went to Vanuatu with some coaching clients (friends) and we had some Twitter / Facebook / Digg sessions around the pool and on the beach. We had lots of fun and enjoyed the occasional Vanuatu Beverage along with our Internet Marketing sessions.

Life is good. It is what we make of it. The only person that can make a substantial difference to your life is YOU. Take charge, have fun, enjoy and share with your friends. I love it and am making lots of friends both on and offline. I hope you will join me soon on any of the Social Media Sites I’m on. Here is a short list of some New Media Sites you can find me at:

  1. Sean Rasmussen on Twitter
  2. Sean Rasmussen on Facebook
  3. Sean Rasmussen on Digg

There are plenty more of my media profiles online and you can locate them through the above profiles. Or you can Google Sean Rasmussen or Success Communicator to find me.

Once again, I’d like to thank all of the 300 people that attended the Sydney Social Media Seminar this weekend. And thank you for reading my blog :)

Until next time, have an outstandingly social day.

Hi S2,
I was at your seminar today and thoroughly enjoyed it, except for the fact that i had to leave after the seo speech ( your speech ) and i wont be able to return as we have a kid who isnt well at all. So we had to pick her and her siblings u from their nans and go home to the central coast.
I am very dissappointed and have been sitting here for the past 5 hours trying to work out how i can get back there but it just isnt possible.
Can you at all send me the info on the session that you did as i didnt get the paperwork because i had to leave before the next session and is it also possible to get the printouts on the folowing sessions from sat & sun?
I also have a few questions from today, are you able to answer them for me? I would of asked today but during the breaks you were both busy with other people.
Thans so much for everything today, i learnt haps.
Cheers,
Lisa
( i think the only person that would be happy that we left is my mum as she had all of our kids! :) All 7 of them!!! )
Thanks once again :)

Hi Sean

Well, you can officially have the title of having introduced me to social media! People who don’t get it, bag it out and say, “Why would I want to know what’s someone having for lunch?” That’s just a demonstration of their ignorance and quickness to judge what they don’t know.

Social media is amazing and it’s changing the world. I love it.

Social Media does rock :)
And for everyone who wants to move something these days in the world I think it is as important as the traditional networking events where you go in person. As everything is global these days also the networking is going global – and that’s where Social Media come in.
And as everything in this world – it depends on us how we use them ;)

Hi Sean,

I love Social Media but I’m still a long way from using it effectively. It’s definitely had a huge impact on the way we communicate with each other and I love the immediacy of it.

I look forward to learning a lot more from you and your fantastic team, Sean. :)

Hello Sean,

I have seen this blog post before. I am impressed with how much the internet links together. It has so many ways for all us to connect together. I love Sydney, we are from there years ago. Soon I want to take our boys to see all the sights – I love to travel:) It amazes me to think that we can have so many friends on line from all over the world.

Cheers
Lisa

Ever wonder how many people are doing what they planned to do when they went to your conference? How many are putting what they learned into effect? It would be interesting to go back to these attendees in a year to see what they are up to now.

If it is the one thing you do this year to boost your finances… go to one of these seminars. It WILL change your life, trust me. The idea of working hard all the days of your life is a thing of the past and these guys are the living proof.

Are there more of these seminars?

If so where do I find out about them, particularly for Queensland?

Social media is here to stay no doubt. As you put it, social media will begin to look less social. In many ways it already has. Who isn’t being bombarded by information today – with no end in sight? I’m all for a way to filter out the clutter and be able to get ‘smart information’ or content filtered just for me. Those are truly my best ‘ah ha’ moments when it comes to social media! How did it know?
