We all have a Blockbuster Hollywood movie in us. A successful Bestselling Epic Novel that could top the charts. Most of us become a prime candidate to share this story when we reach a more experienced level (age) in life. That is likely to happen when we slow down from the “Instant Gratification – give me results now” attitude to a more mature outlook in life. Yes, I know some people never lose that “Instant Gratification Need” and that is perfectly apparent from credit card balances across the western world. Mine is no different…
Growing old? Or just more experienced?
I mentioned in my article “Celebrate Now Rather Than Later“, to build an Air Of Success in your life. We build an identity of ourselves throughout our life. That is largely based on Attitude and Experience. The only difference between a young and an old person is their life experience. Some stay young in their outlook and attitude while others get a bit too serious about everything and age incredibly fast. Your life; this “experience” of yours can be harnessed into a story that would be very interesting and compelling to other people.
More bestselling novels come from authors over the age of 50 than from any other age. One could infer that those with more life experience are probably better suited to writing novels that make sense and that dip into the human experience.
Your very own epic blockbuster
One word: Longevity. You have the responsibility to your family, friends and yourself, to hang around for as long as you can in this life. You have unique life experiences that no one else have got to share with humanity. My personal opinion is that everyone has a book in them; a feature best-selling novel that would translate into a blockbuster movie or mini-series on TV. It would hold every other person on the edge of their seats for the duration of the story and only “you” hold the key to translate that “epic story” to the rest of the world.
There is no such thing as an average person or an average life. It is only what we perceive it to be and many times we perceive it to be something we’ve been told to think… food for thought!
You are the most important person in your life! Share your story somehow. You owe it to everyone around but foremost, you owe it to yourself.
Have a most outstanding day

P.S. My mum reads my blog (Hi Mum). She has been telling me about the book that she has been thinking about writing for the past 30 years. I’m hoping this post will manifest a resulting book. I can’t wait to read it.

Sean , I was having a conversation only yesterday with myself on this very subject. We talked about the need to write a book some day in the future so the younger generation & our kids could have a true comparison as to how great they have it today & all the opotunities we never had which they seem to take for granted . I have no doubt my life & experiences would make a blockbuster movie , maybe some people would even think my story was fiction. Your MINDSET MASTERY book has moved me so much , that today I have added to my goals list the writing of this book. Thankyou Sean for your inspiration.
P.S.
Hello there Sean,s MUM you must be so proud of your little boy , lets both write that book we,ve putting off. Like he say,s we owe it to ourselves & our loved ones.
regards
Allen (FISHERMAN)
A fantastic and positive article Sean! People do want instant gratification and are so greedy. I was thinking earlier about “the American dream” and what it’s supposed to be. I suppose it’s really the same dream for nearly every country, so it’s not necessarily American. It’s the idea that a person can start with nothing and become something great. That could be fame, success, money, wealth and so forth. What it’s turning into, is a lust for money, fame and power. So what does a person do when they make 100 million dollars? They generally live an extravagant lifestyle and move up in social order and in essence, become a totally different person in many cases.
You and I, along with many others see wealth as something other than just these shallow ideals. A mature person of strong character will handle success and power in such a different way than most; however, we are really the minority. I sure hope your Mum writes that book! And you’re so right about being older and more mature. There’s no better time than to write a book! Though I am not rich, I am positive and learning so much. I love life and am proud of who I am. Your perception of success and wealth is of the highest integrity and should be an example for everyone. Have a great day Sean:)
Thanks Bobby! Do you know what the Australian dream is? It’s to own your own house… That’s it! We are indeed very humble. I think our “powers to be” had different ideas for us than the Americans. LOL
When will we see your book, Bobby? I, for one, will be a first up reader of it. Make it signed copy by the way.
My mums book will be forthcoming, I’m sure. Now that she has read this post (she keeps an eye on me), there will be a sense of urgency. I have some “subtle” presents for her 80th birthday that will be delivered by my 2 sons when we arrive there in a few weeks.
Hi Fisherman
My Dad was a fisherman, you know. A very good one at that, too. You would have liked him.
Allen, if I have one ounce of influence on you writing a book, I will be very proud. Save me a signed copy, mate.
To realize you are already a success in whatever you do is the path to strengthening your self-esteem. The road to unconditional love and unlimited self-acceptance is what matters. Where you go from there, whether you decide to change your life focus, is simply a different way to explore your inner spirit and unleash your soul.
As usual, Liara, you are spot on
Thank you. Much appreciated.
I really hope your mum writes that book too, she sounds like a wonderful and very humble mother who did a wonderful job raising boys in tough times, I would be the first to line up and read her story.

Let’s hope the magnanamous Mrs Rassmussen’s dream manifests in a magnificent manuscript. {sorry I couldn’t resist}.
You are of course right Sean. I also will write a book but not this month as I have a thousand reasons to keep writing on your blog.
Hi Sean,
I love the idea of writing a book of your life to leave it as a legacy for your children and grandchildren. I think it would be wonderful to be able to have your story passed from generation and generation. Imagine if each person added their own story. I would loved to have read stories from my grandmother, great grandfather. I think this is something we should all consider doing.
Also, I hope your Mum writes her book, Sean. I bet she is an amazing woman with lots of interesting stories to tell. Maybe, you could get your Mum to write a guest post for you, Sean.
I started a book when I was only 16 I got a page or two of the first chapter done, one day I will get back to it, at the moment I am setting myself on my road to untold wealth so the book will have to wait a little longer
I agree that everyone has at least one story in them that others would find fascinating. As for why the more of the top stories are told by those with experience, I’ll speculate on a few reasons:
1) more material to work with, therefore the author is likely to have more interest events to use as source material;
2) communication – with experience comes wisdom and with that a greater understanding in what people are likely to find interesting;
3) Prolific story writing of the over 50s – writing is a skill which improves with use, and so long as the mind is still good, people can continue to write as much as they have hours in the day. Assuming it takes people a little while to hone their skills, and may not necessarily come to writing at an early age, there would possibly be many more books released by those over 50, than those under 50 (just a guess).
4) then there could be great stories that just take many years to actually get published.

Oh, I envy you for being such a great writer. I have never thought that I would dream of becoming one. I had managed to write some articles that I never thought I could . But you inspired me and I want to thank you for that. You and your wonderful books enlightened me. Thank you so much.
The great novel. I could probably do that. I have a better idea.
A combined effort of all my new found friends of our struggles and how we overcame them. Don’t know if I could keep it to a chapter though.

Hi Gee,
That is actually a great idea. Someone gave me a book a long time ago called something like, ‘Storms of Perfection’ and it was kind of a celebrity version of what you’re thinking of. It was really interesting to hear the struggles that some of the most famous people in the world had to overcome in order to be the great success that they were.
I think our stories would be so much more interesting.
My dad’s life was a mystery to just about everyone because he never spoke of it. So I got him to record his memoirs before he died. Fascinating. Probably wouldn’t make a blockbuster but better than a lot of midday movies.

Go Mum Power. I will gladly buy her book, so fingers crossed its written or almost finished. I love to read books, I am a huge book worm.
There is a story within us all. May we all realise that before its too late. Life has many wonderful experiences, and I so agree with you Sean, that we should share our life journey with others so that they can experience a little bit of our world. My question will be, if I do have a book within me, and its more than one idea…which one do I start to write first!!!! Look at the Author of Harry Potter for eg. She was a out of work Mum that could not find work after raising her children. So to relieve how bored she was, she wrote her first book. The rest is history.
So whose novels is out next?
