The Perceived Illusion

Someone once said: Life is 1% perception and 99% perspiration. I tend to think it’s a little different to that. We can perceive things as pleasure or pain depending on what we see, hear or feel. A magician, or illusionist, will make us see something and contort our thoughts into thinking something else is happening.

Have a look at this video and see what is going through this guys brain when he encounters the “illusion”. Prepare to laugh!

The Perceived Illusion

I had to pick myself up off the floor after seeing this one. I hope you enjoyed this one as much as I did. I’d say this guy is experiencing 100% perception and 500% pain.

Have a most outstanding day

I saw this trick done at a party once, years ago. Needless to say, it brought the house down with laughter. The poor guy on the receiving end found it funny only once he knew what had happened.

Sean-I love it! It shows clearly how our perception changes our reality.

What is interesting is how we do this in our own lives. Not get whacked in the head, but view things through our own filter/mood/attitude.

Hmm… I think I’ve managed to get a few whacks on the head too. ;)

Verrry funny. Just wondering if the commercial is an illusion, ie. are they actors? Then you have several layers of illusion?

  10. Sean Rasmussen Says:

Hi TRCoach. That thought did pass through my mind. I have seen this trick at a party and I can see how the ‘recipient’ is easily tricked. Most people, instinctively, only look past their nose and that becomes their reality. That is why magicians (illusionists) can fool people so easily with very simple tricks.
Chances are, it is a commercial as the guy on the left is drinking Lift, not a beer.

    he should’ve been hit. lol

He was lucky… I’ve seen the trick done with a soup spoon. You know, the big one that you scoop soup out of a saucepan with ;)
