Fancy A Ride?

The Kiwi’s would have to make the best commercials in the world. As their beer commercials wouldn’t quite pass the rating of this blog, I’ll stick to a Toyota Hilux add instead. You may remember the YouTube video recently about the Perceived Illusion, where 3 Kiwi’s are having a Spoon Race… Well, here’s a New Zealand Hilux advert. Aussie advertisers can learn a few tricks from the Kiwi’s. Enjoy!

Where’s the motivational message in this? I’ve got no idea! You tell me in the comments section. 😀

  1. That’s gold!

  2. Your rite Sean, certainly difficult finding the motivational message here. Certainly made the old fisherman laugh though.

  3. Where there’s a will there’s a way 🙂

  4. Andrew Lambie says:

this one is good sean, would the original hilux ad be ok for this blog?…

  5. I’m not sure. Is it the “Bugger” ad you’re referring to?
For those brave enough, there are 2 KIWI Tui Beer YouTube commercials hidden in the post.

    “Seek and thy shalt find”

  6. Lol , i have no clue whats the motivational thing in this , lol

  7. No bull….you can do it!

  8. Or….if you go fix that thing that has been bugging you for ages, you’re in for a big surprise. hehehe.

  9. I agree with turja , where there is a will there is a way

  10. The message is clear….chicks dig utes

  11. Thats very funny, I remember when it came out. You can’t beat the Australian XXXX ads for a bit of raw Aussie humour though!

  12. Hmmm. I am thinking that the ride being offered to the ladies might not actually involve the truck. I agree Sean that the NZ creative people seem to come up with the best stuff.

As for the motivation? hahahaha Sex sells baby!!!!!!

  13. Jazz Salinger says:

    Hi Sean,

I think the moral of the story is that you need to decide what you want, take control and find a way to break out of your prison. Don’t let anything stand in your way.

Also, the kiwis make great ads.

  14. If you want something you will find a way to get it and nothing will stop you.
    taking action gets results

  15. Ha – cattle stop. Perhaps the message is that even successful and self motivated individuals can still have difficulty overcoming old thought patterns, even when they have the means to easily overcome them. Conditioning is a powerful thing.

  16. Hi Sean,
It’s the best ad ever! I enjoy it so much.

There’s plenty of motivation and ingenuity in this ad in my opinion, sheep shagger!

  17. This is our can do attitude coming out.
There’s a heap of them on Youtube. My favourite is the one with the Islanders slapping heads. Its gold.

By the way the Aussie beer ads need renaming. I believe we own just about all the Aussie breweries. It’s all part of our grand plan to dominate OZ.
    First we emigrate.
    Then we buy the breweries.
Then we invade with our bands.
Then the corporates come over. Michael Hill, The Warehouse (Oh sorry Sam’s Warehouse now. We decided to give it back), Lion Nathan, Fisher and Paykel. Better stop there or you will wonder if there is any Aussie stores left.

As you say Sean, the fast eat the slow

  18. Fancy calling a bunch of sheep, sheep shaggers!

There’s the chip ad with the 3 Kiwi blokes on the couch slapping each other, which I know you like too Sean 🙂

  19. Hello Sean,

Love the video!! Where is the motivational message in this video? That’s easy. “Smelling your goals close by but getting there via a quicker way is not always the best way. Stick to your destination and you will achieve all your heart desires”

Well that’s what I get from the video. Love how they finish with “Morning Ladies” 🙂

  20. I have become motivated to start giving driving lessons to animals. Here I was stuck in my own little world not even giving a second thought about how animals might like to be treated as equals.

And if you take that one step further, cause I know I will, I think it’s only right for our feathered friends were taught how to fly aircraft. How in the dang-doodly do we know how tired birds get when they try flying south for the winter??

  21. G’day Sean,
I think the message is how tough the Toyota truck is at the obvious level, but deeper is the fact of the bulls being brave enough to steal the truck, to get to freedom, and then NOT being able to cross the cattle grate. In other words, they were brainwashed into their believing their limitations of not crossing the grate.

Apart from that it was a bloody ripper bit of entertainment, and had me laughing my head off.
Thanks for the bit of fun.
.-= Harry Lynn´s last blog ..How Proud Can One Be ? =-.

  22. The ad is designed to get into rapport with young single men who work on farms. Typically these men are tough, fit, robust, healthy virile and despite this there are certain factors that keep them from their goal ie to get laid. The message is to break through all limitations (except one and that one can be got around in other ways – this would suggest that not having immediate cash on hand to buy a car is only a temporary obstacle) and achieve the goal. Of course all they need to complete this task is a Hi Lux, they have everything else. To sum up, the purpose is to motivate these men to the point where they believe they can have all they want so long as they also have the car.

  23. I love that video, never seen it before 🙂
Moral? Have fun I guess 🙂 But it’s interesting that they get “stopped” by the cattle gate that wouldn’t be a problem for them because of the great tool they “acquired”. So, one motivation from that could be – when you have a great new tool make sure you don’t limit yourself with old beliefs 🙂

  24. Hi Sean,
Just as well the two bulls were not left to the imagination of, Gary Larson (The Far Side) He would have had them travelling to the sex shop to buy an inflatable cow.

The mental block over the cattle grid is obviously a problem steming from childhood.
.-= Jill Brown´s last blog ..Common Law Marriage – What is Common Law Marriage? =-.

  25. Hey Jill,

I can think of a couple of conclusions that could be drawn just from analising that cattle grid scene alone.

    1) Unless you are willing step outside of your comfort zone and push through your limiting beliefs, even having the best tools to help you achieve your goal doesn’t necessarily ensure success;

    2) While the most direct route could be the quickest way to your goal’s achievement the indirect way can really open your eyes.

    Just a thought!

  26. Okay, it is a little late, and I must be starting to get tired, as this thought just flashed through my mind while reading one of your other posts (no implication or connection inferred, trust me! *grin*)

I just realised I would never consider buying a NZ Toyota Hilux: because it’s all talk and full of bull! *boom tish*

On that note, I’m off to bed.

    Just a silly thought!
