Cold Cold Heart – Norah Jones

Cold Cold Heart. No one can deny that Norah Jones has one of the best voices in her genre. Here’s another great cover version by the Malolo Island Bula Band. Keep in mind these guys are not singing in their native tongue. They do a fantastic job in this version of Cold Cold Heart.

Cold Cold Heart by Norah Jones

Iliesa, Tivita and Viliame from the Malolo Island Bula Band play Cold Cold Heart by Norah Jones. Grab a cocktail, sit back and pretend you’re on Island Time in Fiji!

I am from Fiji myself, these guys are great, every hotel and motel have a similar group
they are gifted with music, I think.
    Bula Vinaka vaka Levu

  2. They have a lovely harmony, don’t they. The lead guy reminds me of a singer, not sure who, but very calming to listen to, thank you!
It is actually quite relaxing to be able to step back from investment thinking:)

      Hi Sean,

It’s so good to be able to relax for a few minutes. I really need a holiday in Fiji so I can listen to them live. All I need now is some time off.

I’m not sure but I think this song was one done originally by Hank Williams. Still, whoever did it first, these guys do an excellent cover version.

  3. The Lionel Ritchie one has been my favourite so far.

  4. Hi Sean,
I love Country Music, and I love this song and they do it extremely well love the sound love the feel if they had a record I would buy it .

  5. That band really helps you relax – awesome :). I could see myself sitting next to the pool with a nice drink and listen to them. Sean, what equipment did you use to film them, the sound and picture quality are really good!

  6. Can’t say I know a lot of Norah Jones songs. But I like the Fijian flavor to country Music.
These guys are good, make me want to pull out the old acoustic right now. Or maybe I should just stick to the old air guitar 😉

  7. Bula Sean.
Their version is better than Norah’s. They’re not prepared to be tied down by the original lyrics. What I’d call true creativity!

  8. It would have been very relaxing sitting there and listening to their music.

They would have put a lot of effort in learning and perfecting the song and the harmony. (wonderful love it).

Hi Sean, I just love that song and that kind of music – it reminds me of years ago when I was young and we lived up in Papua New Guinea, – Port Moresby, Rabaul and Wewak. The local bands up there all played music like that at dances and parties and such – very relaxing and that clip made me feel very sentimental – think that’s the right word. I have some Fijian friends in Brisbane who we first met in Wewak and the husband used to play guitar in a band up there as well. The different times I spent in PNG were the best in my life. Were you on holiday in Fiji when you took the video?

  10. Hello Sean,

They are so very gorgeous. This band is gold. Have they thought to put together a album, because I would be the first in line to buy one? I love how they are so layed back, so relaxed that you just want to sit down with a cocktail or two and chill out 🙂 Have you got any others that we can listen to? Thanks for sharing.
PS:- I think I read somewhere that you were making a video of them to send back to the band so they can watch themselves? If so did they love it!!

  11. I plead ignorance. I’ve never heard Norah Jones version of this but that may mean I like this version best. This also enlightens me to the fact that the versions of everyone I see here may not be the person I would have met in person first and for that I am thankful.

  12. The call of the island lifestyle is so unique and special. This song Cold Cold Heart, has been sung by so many great artists over the years, and the Malolo Island Bula Band certainly have a beautiful rendition here.
It is no wonder you venture to the Islands so often Sean, it has a magical atmosphere that turns off the hustle & bustle of our modern Rat Race. Hey I wonder how much they paid for the tea box you see them using to keep the beat ??

  14. I love how chilled out these guys are. No matter what the song they seem to make it sound really chilled, and everything alright. I’ll drink to that.

Perhaps it is the Island lifestyle.

  15. Ahh Sean. This is magic! Please don’t put too many of these on at once – or you will have us all with you in Fiji.

I have bookmarked these pages, so that when the wind is howling, and the rain squalling as it will in winter, or when the frost is crackling on the grass – I will be able to close my eyes and dream of other places. Thank you for sharing these!

  16. Thanks for the video of Cold Cold Heart being played by the Malolo Island Bula Band in Fiji. I can feel myself sitting back and enjoying a nice drink by the pool as I listened. The band did a great job island style.

  17. Hi Sean

That’s a great rendition of the song. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of Nora Jones though but my wife is. Some of her work is ok but not enough to make me want to buy it. For now I’ll just stick to the free stuff.
I would love to get to Fiji someday. My sister has been several times and absolutely loves it
