Turning Goals Into Winners

April 19th, 2008

Stay motivated towards your goals with a friendIn the field of mindset and self development, there is great power in numbers. When you have someone else to team up with for your goals, you’re not only going to have somebody to turn to when your own motivation is flagging, but you will also have someone to keep up with and someone to inspire when they begin to falter.

Team up for motivational success

Someone holding you responsible for your goalsChoosing a partner to share your goals to success is a bit of a tricky process. You need to pick someone with a similar goal to yourself as this will help the both of you help each other in similar ways. For example, you don’t want to partner up with someone who wants to lose ten pounds if you’re trying to lose fifty. When they reach their goal, they might not want to keep going until you reach yours. On the other hand, if you have a friend that wants to lose 20 pounds and you need to lose 30, this might be a more reasonable match up. The weightloss analogy applies to any other scenario. Your motivation may be towards money, lifestyle, travel, charity, self improvement, etc…

Are you committed?

You also need to find someone who’s committed to helping you – and you need to be committed to helping them. You can’t simply enable each other to slack on your individual goals. It can help if you draw up a sort of contract for your partnership to help you both see what’s expected of the other as you move along in your relationship. Sign it and date it and then both people can keep copies, referencing them when the other person doesn’t do everything they agreed to do.

Holding you responsible

Staying in touch for your motivation to be on trackA partner is someone that you should be meeting with several times a week – either in person or on email or phone. The constant communication will hold you responsible on the progress you are making, while also giving yourself an extra boost of energy when you might be having troubles with something you are doing. Regular communication is the key, but only if it’s positive and not just complaining about what you are doing.

Some grumbling is to be expected, but if the other is grumbling, you should be helping them move into a more positive mindset.

For Art Sake!

March 12th, 2008

Stay motivated to achieve your goalsThere are many ways to improve your life.  We are faced with many choices every day.  Life can get confusing and it’s easy to forget to stay grateful for the things we have rather than focusing on “what we have not“.   To visualize a goal or something you highly desire in your life can be hard for some people.  So how can we make this task a bit easier?  Well, there are ways you can make it easier for yourself.

Improve Your Life With Art

The brain is a mysterious thing. Some days, it helps us easily recall our very first phone number while other days, it blocks out where we put the car keys the night before. While even doctors and scientists are baffled by the brain, realizing that it does play a role in our daily lives can help us use it to our advantage and for our personal motivation and self development.

Art, for example, is a visual expression of something, someone, or some emotion. By creating art, you are allowing your brain to figure out how to bring the images inside of it to the media that you are using. What many people don’t realize is that by creating art pieces, you can also help your mental health and your confidence – even if you never show the pieces to anyone else.

Visualizing Your Dreams

Visualizing your dreamsIf you have a dream of living in a certain house, you might create a picture of this house with pencils or markers. This helps to create the brainwaves and chemical chains in the brain that leave an impression in your mind. Each time you look at this picture, you will recall the reasons why you were making it and what these reasons mean to you. In addition, you will also be thinking and visualizing your dreams for the entire length of the project. You will be more motivated towards your goal.

Take some time to create some form of art each day to help you engage this creative side of your brain that wants to create a better reality for you. You don’t have to create something that anyone will see or that anyone would understand when they looked at it. This is a personal expression of your dreams and your feelings so that you can give them a permanent place in your brain. By turning on your brain, you may just be able to turn on the actions and the mindset that helps you get exactly what you want.

Manifesting Your Future

In essence, you are manifesting your future. You are setting goals and targets towards what you want in the future by creating it through art. If you don’t believe in writing your goals down maybe the “art approach” will work for you.
