Million Dollar Thoughts

by Sean Rasmussen on June 14, 2008

I get a lot of emails. Preferably, people comment in the blog and everyone can benefit from the answer. My philosophies that are inspired heavily by Dr Demartini, Napoleon Hill, Wallace Wattles and many more, do challenge a lot of people.

Why Isn’t This Working For Me?

Here is an example of an email I got from a lady last week: (she will remain nameless)

“I wish I could have $1M this week! Funny hey! But it is true! That is what I wish and hope for so much for a specific reason. Now, come on, you know you can’t do that with nothing!!”

This is very true, indeed! Now, I would have loved to get that response in the “Comments Section” below the post. Not in my email. My blogs are here to help lots of people and the best way I can do that is to make them public.

Million Dollar Thoughts

This was my response:

“You are at a place in life that you have traveled to. Your destination is a direct result of your actions. You, and no one else, is to thank for that. Everything you have is a result of the way you think and the way you perceive life. If you want a Million dollars, you need to have Million dollar thoughts. They don’t just come overnight. They are a result of abundant thoughts, actions and later reality. Wealth breeds more wealthy thoughts and poverty breed poverized thoughts.

The fastest way to change anything is to change your thoughts.

So you are right. You can’t “do that with nothing”. You need to have the basis first and that is abundant thoughts followed by abundant action.”

Unfortunately, my email bounced and the lady didn’t receive it…

Confucius Say:

To quote old man Confucius (I’m sure it was him), there is an old Chinese saying that sums up the above paragraphs quite nicely:

If you want to see your past, look at your current results.
If you want to see you future, look at your current actions.

Think abundant thoughts and you will eventually have abundant actions.

Have a most outstanding day

This reminds me of a story told in TAGR. I wonder what Dr Frank Gunsaulus would have replied to the lady as he asked for exactly one million dollars and only gave himself a week to do so. He had a burning desire for that sum and that is exactly what he got after asking for it at his sermon. If you follow the principles it will all come together.

Thanks,

Clint

And that is the key: A Burning Desire! In other words, have a passion for what you want and you have inspired results.

So very true Sean. Perhaps the email bounced as the lady who wrote you wasn’t ready for this reply!

Thanks for sharing as I know there would be many more people like her out there reading your blog. I for one have eperienced the very same thing. Abundant thoughts produce more abundance and thoughts of poverty produce more poverty. Change your thoughts, change your life. Keep spreading the word Sean. You write inspiring posts. Thank You.

well, I am not sure we can change our thoughts. Can we? I believe that we can NOT to entertain our thoughts. The question is if we are originators of our thoughts.

Hi Sean,
I found you on Blog Catalog. Great site! We need more people like you spreading the lessons of prosperity.

When The Secret first came out, people came up to me and said, “This is going to change the world!” I tried not to burst their bubble but would tell them that as wonderful as The Secret is, these same lessons have been taught for centuries in many cultures and yet, everyone doesn’t buy into prosperity consciousness. It’s easier to blame someone else for your life rather than take responsibility, and that’s really what this is about- taking responsibility for everything that happens to you. And then you also have to take daily action to create the change you want.

The lessons of success are precious, and we need to spread this message to as many people as are willing to listen, and then be willing to work with them to overcome the limiting beliefs and actions that keep them from their dreams. But we will have to get the message to 300 so that 3 will hear it and take it to heart. The beauty of your site Sean, is that we CAN get 300 or 3,000 or 30,000 at a time to hear it. Those that understand and believe can then help us “Pay It Forward”.

Great work friend.

Skip said “…it’s easier to blame someone else for your life rather than take responsibility,”

I totally agree with you Skip. And this is what is wrong in our culture. If more people would take responsibility for their own actions we would see less crime, more respect for themselves and others around them, and a society that wasn’t overgoverned and litigous.

Thanks Skip. By all means, if the word can get out, let’s get people to each others sites. The people that want help can get it and the rest will weed themselves out (meant nicely) ;)

Hi Sean,
Good advice.
We are all experiencing a new consciousness, but not all will take advantage of it. You of course have and I wish to thank you for the effort you make to share it with those who are ready to listen.

It has taken me 40 years to understand fully just what an abundant consciousness is and although I have always had ‘enough’ (money) and never gone without, that seems to be the place where I stay. Abundance comes to me in other ways and I’m unsure whether it’s fear of going further that stops me or I’m just lazy… There will be a situation opening up for me soon that will bring quite a lot of money into my possession, this will be the turning point I feel, when I will be in a make or break situation….
We are all in this together and I believe we all find what we are looking for, we just have to be more aware of how we would like it to find us!!
I’ll leave you with this from the brilliant Eckhart Tolle and I quote -
“REMEMBER THAT YOUR PERCEPTION OF THE WORLD IS A REFLECTION OF YOUR STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS. YOU ARE NOT SEPARATE FROM IT, AND THERE IS NO OBJECTIVE WORLD OUT THERE.
EVERY MOMENT, YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS CREATES THE WORLD THAT YOU INHABIT.”

Happy Days :)

Only 40 years Kaye? You’re faster than me cos I didn’t really “get it” until I was 45.

Kaye said “…Abundance comes to me in other ways and I’m unsure whether it’s fear of going further that stops me or I’m just lazy… ” – Again I have experienced this Kaye. It is fear of not succeeding, fear of what others think, fear of … something. Do you know what? I also used to be indecisive but now I’m not sure.

Have a great life!

Hello, Kaye.
Eckhart Tolle. Now there’s someone to listen to! I love his talks about “Being In The Now”.
There is no past and there is no future. There only ever “NOW”. The past was “Now” and the future will be “Now”. Our entire life is just one long moment.

@Ange: I agree with you, well, I agree with everyone’s comments here, but specifically I thought of the quote, “When the student is ready… the teacher will appear.” Obviously, this student, wasn’t ready. And, people wonder why things don’t go the way they want them to, or do they actually go exactly how they want them to. Hmm…

@Sean: Keep up the great posts! I reviewed this site over at BlogCatalog. I was a trainer for Anthony Robbins and though I don’t agree with his views on spirituality, specifically what he thinks a Christian is, I have continued to apply many of his principles and garnered tremendous results. Technically they are not his principles for as the great Solomon said, “There is nothing new under the sun”, however, he packaged them well and inserted his personality which obviously worked for him and millions of others.

Have an outstanding day!

So very true – but how do you convince others. My little sister said to me “I would like to be rich” and I said to her “tell yourself you will be – change your mindset, change your relationship with money, and it will come.” I got a few minutes silence and then I think she thought I forgot to take my medication…not everyone will ‘get it’.

Yes Lisa that indeed is the critical difference. It’s not enough just to wish for something. You have to convince yourself that you WILL have it. With that conviction comes motivation and with that positive energy and mindset the person will find ways to make it happen.

Maybe a little off topic but when my daughter was younger she had terrible trouble saying what she wanted. It was sooooo frustrating. Even little things like her chosing something from a restaurant menu. She was so shy and timid that she got into the habit of letting us choose for her. It took me ages to try understand what caused this. I think it was because she wanted so badly to please her mum that she didn’t want to ask for anything unless it was offered. In the end I started forcing her to make choices by not allowing her to say “anything” or “whatever you want”. It was a hard road. The breakthrough came one day when I manged to help her understand that it was ok for her to not have a reason for preferring one thing over the other. Now she happily chooses things just because she wants to have that thing and not feeling that she has to explain that choice.

Samantha Banfield March 20, 2010 at 6:09 pm

Not alot of people do get it Lisa, so you have to choose who you invest your time in as far as passing on pearls of wisdom like that.

I have tried with my own sister until I was blue in the face & she has yet to take the first step in making change in her own life. Then I see the same complaints in twitter… cut to me – “oh, brother!!”

So I focus on investing the time in myself. Others need to come to their own enlightened realisations when it’s right for them -as the old saying goes, “you can lead a horse to water…” All you can do is love.

I am not sure where I read it but to get into the habit in thinking in “million dollar ideas” it’s a great suggestion to keep a little notebook and every evening think of something that cold be a million dollar idea. Every week or month you can review all your ideas to see which one you are still interested in. That way you train yourself to think in million dollar thoughts. And there you are, you have changed your mindset :)
Very sad that we don’t educate our kids that way already, letting them dream and helping them to put action plans together to achieve their dreams.

Hi Sean,

We can want and wish for a million dollars all we like but unless and until we have the correct mindset; it’ll never happen. We have to start with changing our thoughts, because thoughts and feelings drive our actions and our actions create our habits which create our entire life.

I think we need to show some gratitude for what we currently have. After all, this is our current life and while it might not be what we want exactly, we did choose it. Once we fully realize that we are responsible for our current situation, it opens the door to change.

Happy days! Once we realize that our choices put us where we are, we understand that with some different choices we will actually end up where it is we want to be.

What I have found as I have gotten older & participated in personal development – it’s phrases like “abundant thoughts create abundant actions” have far more positive feelings to it.

Actually today I was ready to walk out of my fulltime job. Every direction I turned I hit a brick wall. I was feeling depressed and I was possessing a Negative Mental Attitude. I had to do something, I had to change my state and change my negative attitude to a positive attitude.

I really don’t know what happened, in an instant my attitude changed and I felt that I can concor any challenge that is set out before me. What has really helped me here is that I have set life goals and when I poses NMA I just refer to these goals and as if by magic my attitude changes.

Last idea I can think of is: I had the idea for a juice franchise and was discussing the possibilities with my entrepreneurial friend. That was just before BOOST came along. I swear someone is reading my mail. It really narcs me! But I didn’t have the knowledge to carry the idea through to completion anyway.

So what do you do?

Great Sean I love it “poverized” if it’s not in the dictionary it should be, I know from experience that opportunities come along all the time , I’ve missed thousands of them not because I didn’t see them I just couldn’t be bothered until I had a family and found it imperative to take action . I found the single biggest factor was being too preoccupied with just having fun instead of putting in a bit of effort and taking advantage at the time, fortunately it’s never to late provided your not in a box yet. I’ve persevered with day trading the futures markets and after a couple of years and making all the classic mistakes I can see light at the other end. Also having a strong faith helps as well

Hi Radek,
I would say the thought comes first, because attitude is (at least for me) a kind of habit. So that develops over time, having the same or similar thought over and over again towards an object or situation. That then becomes part of your attitude.

How true this is?? And how odd that some people just don’t get this. They think the “lucky” people only get good things happening to them. Well, they do but for those reasons that you state Sean – abundant thoughts, million dollar thoughts.

I have been guilty in the past of constantly having negative thoughts but once you turn that around and take action with abundant, loving thoughts you get very different results than what you got in the past. I know that from the experiences I have been having recently.

And it has a flow on effect. The more abundant, loving thoughts you have the more you attract of the same and then you feel even more abundant and so on.

It is a great feeling and has taught me to never turn back.

G’day Samantha,
As my other self, Dr Harry, may I suggest 2 things ? I will anyhow. A prescription !

1. Download both the SLOA Ebook and MP3 narration as soon as possible and read the book while listening to the MP3. This is one of the most powerful ways to get those important positive mesages into your subconcious mind.
Play the MP3 on the way to & from work, on your walkman or whatever, even if you have to burn it to Cds to play in the car. I love chapter 1 ” You Have The Right To Be Rich ” and chapter 7 ” Gratitude ”

2. Find the words on the web and learn and sing my theme song ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE. My blog ” Old Songs To Inspire ” has it and others. Some from the 1930 s would you believe.

MILLION DOLLAR THOUGHTS will come to you. Hope that helps and you aren’t offended at my prescription.

Hi Sean

I used to believe that we were totally responsible for our thoughts but with a prolonged inward search I now know for sure that we are not. If we were in control of our thoughts then why would we allow even one negative thought through let alone the myriad of negative thoughts we can have in one day?

Thoughts just rise up, and it is a mystery but part of being a conscious being in this dualistic world.

The integral thing here is what we do with these thoughts… do we follow them or just let them go? You would have heard people say, ‘ I can’t help it, these thoughts just pop in” and that is very true. The most powerful thing we can do when a negative thought comes up is recognise that it is just a thought and don’t chase it. It is not solid nor is it a thing. it therefore has no power unless we give our attention to it and empower it by continually focusing on it.

Most, if not all meditation practices in the world are not about stilling the mind (you can’t “still” the mind completely…. just try to stop thought for a minute!). Meditation is about recognising that thought rises up and is not attached to anything, so you learn to just let them go. Thought is not the enemy here though, we need thoughts to function…The greatest inventions in the world have been inspired by a thought in someones mind.

Knowing this is very powerful as having an image of what you want to achieve, seeing it , feeling it hearing it etc is far more powerful than “thinking” it. This has worked for me health wise and I have had the experience of healing my own body fast through a few illnesses, one inoperable, one incurable and several miraculous cures e.g, fixing a severely sprained ankle in about 5 minutes for instance.

Vision boards are a great way to focus on what you want to “see” in your life. Get the image of how you see your new self in every minute detail and hold onto that image. I call it reinventing yourself… then give the mystery of life space to provide those opportunities to you to move into and work on your new self. That is what I am doing right now, seeing myself smiling, energetic and over the finishing line of this competition, jubilant. See you all there too!

Blessings
Elly
