Don’t Leave Your Life Cluttered

If you were to describe the life of a successful person, how would you begin? Are these people disorganized in their life or are they clear about what they want to do? In order to reflect success, you need to surround yourself not only with clear intentions, but also with a clean environment. Of course, you shouldn’t be focusing on your cleaning more than your dream, but studies have shown that people with less clutter tend to be more productive.

Think about it for a minute: when you want to find something, how long does it take you? The time that you’re wasting to look for that item could have been spent doing so many other wonderful things. It’s in your best interest to begin looking at where you work and live to see how you can organize yourself better.

First of all, you will want to throw away anything that you simply don’t need. Too often, we hang onto things because we fear that we ‘might’ need them. And while this might be the case, most things can be replaced easily should that day arrive. In the meantime, we are filling our lives and our homes with things that get in our way and are of no use to us – cluttering our energy and making us less efficient. Our lifestyle normally suffers from this.

Next, you need to learn how to organize your things so that you can find them when you need them. This is going to vary for each person. Some people find that buying organizers, boxes, and shelves makes organization easier, while others feel that using what they have already is sufficient. Think of this step as a creative process. Find ways to organize your things so they make sense to you. If you need to change the system in a few months, that’s fine, but for now, you need to figure out how to arrange things so that you have time for your dreams.

Failure is Okay

Time and time again we’re told that failure isn’t an option. Whether it’s from a boss or a friend or ourselves, failing is something we’ve seen as worse than bad – something that needs to be avoided at all costs. But is this really the truth? When it comes to failing, you may find that it’s actually the best guidance you could ever receive when you are actively trying to make a dream come true. Here’s why failure is okay.

When you’re not afraid to fail, you are brave enough to try anything. So often, it’s this fear that we may not do something right that leads us to never doing anything we want to do. And that leaves us just out of reach of our dreams and our goals. Changing your mind about failure will help you change your mind about what you can achieve – even if it’s not as quickly as you’d hoped.

If you are afraid of failure, then your communicating with your brain, telling it you dont want success. Because failure is a part of the road to success!

Plan With Experience

Failure allows you to see where your plans and your ideas need work. If it weren’t for a phone call from a friend, you wouldn’t know that something was wrong with them. The same idea can be applied to your goals. When you fail at some part of your plan, you now know what you shouldn’t do. This allows you to make future plans that are based on experience rather than just a guess.

In fact, you should be failing from time to time as it will allow you to see that each move you make is making a difference – even if it’s not the one you want your moves to make. By realizing that you are still moving forward, even as you are failing, you will begin to see what any step is a step in the right direction. Failure isn’t an option – it’s a necessity.

Failure is one of the required stepping stones to success.

Forget What Others Say

When you were younger and you were teased at school, you were told by your parents that you shouldn’t listen to their teasing. That never made much sense when you were a kid because you knew that the teasing wouldn’t stop if you were the one doing the telling. But as you grew older, you still were affected by the taunts of others, even if they weren’t on the playground anymore. We all want everyone to like us and to admire us, so when we’re trying to achieve something, what do we do about the opinions of others?

Our dreams are special things that we hold close to our hearts. When people try to trample on them – even though they don’t mean to – we are hurt. We begin to feel as though we will never have the success we want. Our motivation goes down the tubes and we simply believe that maybe the others are right. This can dash our dreams quickly and make us refuse to dare to dream again.

Sharing Your Success?

In order to quiet others, there are several things you can do. One, you could simply not tell people what you want in your life. This way, it’s a secret until you succeed, which will help keep people from commenting at all. Or you might want to tell others what you are doing, but don’t open up the matter for discussion. If anyone gives you negative feedback, you can thank them and then change the subject. You dont need to communicate your dreams and goals to nay-sayers.

The truth is that other people don’t necessarily know what’s right for you – only you know that. And while their intentions might be good in their eyes, it’s what you think that makes a difference at the end of the day. If you hear something that bothers you, take a moment to ask yourself if it’s something that you believe. If not, move on and smile.

Surround Yourself with Reminders

When you’re caught in the hustle and bustle of your life, it’s easy to forget what you were doing. If the phone rings while you are helping your child with their spelling homework, coming back to your child and their place is not always simple. In the case of bigger dreams and tasks, you need to make sure you are surrounding yourself with reminders of what you want to do and how you want to do it. That way, no matter what distractions you have, you will be able to come back to what really matters.

One of the easiest ways to remind yourself of where your dreams are is to write out a list of the things you want. You can do this on a piece of paper or type it out on a computer – that part doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you make sure you are writing down the things you want and reading them regularly. Keep a copy in your wallet or purse as well as on your bathroom mirror at home. The more you etch these goals into your head, the more you will come back to them and work on them. Your personal success will depend on how often you review these goals.

Visual Reminders

Others like to surround themselves with visual reminders of what they want. If you wanted to go to Hawaii, for example, you might find pictures of the beaches to post around your office or your home. This way, you will be reminded of this special trip and how much you want to take it. Communicate this to yourself often. This will activate your brain to be thinking about it all the time, even when you’re not aware you are.

Finally, make sure to tell people you trust about your dreams so that they will ask you about your progress. These questions serve as more reminders about what you want to do and how close you are to doing it.

Believe in the Impossible

It’s funny how real a dream can seem when we’re first trying to wake up. Shaking off a particularly powerful dream can make us disoriented and confused about where we are and what we are actually doing. For that single moment, we believe that something happened that actually didn’t happen – for a moment, we believe in the impossible. Perhaps we can take this gift and apply it to our goals and to our dreams. The impossible can be reached, if only we open our eyes. Can we apply this to our own motivation and success?

Too often, we believe that if no one else has done something, then it must not be possible. We don’t believe that people actually run as fast as they do or have as much money as they say they do – because we can’t prove it. We make up excuses for their money and their talents, believing they are some sort of magic trick that is meant to fool the eye. As we learn to discount the deeds of others, we are actually discounting the abilities of ourselves.

Believe In Yourself

We are telling ourselves that really big dreams aren’t possible or realistic. And when that happens, we begin to make choices that reflect this belief. For example, if you have a dream to move up in management in your company, but you believe that you can’t make it so you don’t fill out the application, you’re not going to get the job. This isn’t because you’re not talented enough; it’s because your beliefs kept you from trying. Maybe it’s time to communicate some success to yourself. Believe in yourself!

For just a moment, believe in something that you feel is impossible. What does that feel like? Do you feel empowered? Do you feel alive? When you stop thinking about the reasons why something wouldn’t or couldn’t happen, you open up the door to the possibility that it could. After all, self improvement is only a few thoughts away.

The impossible does happen – everyday, in fact. But it’s waiting for you to believe in it.
