Mindset Mastery 171 – Economically Advantaged

Mindset Mastery eBookWe hear all the time about the disadvantages of life and the economical disadvantage of people. There is no arguing that the playing field at the outset is not level, but that does not predetermine the outcome for the right-minded wealth creator. Here, Napoleon Hill analyses the advantages of the capitalist society before moving on to discuss why those advantages are not readily enjoyed by all living within the system.

Capitalistic Advantage

Analyzed here are the economic advantages of the capitalistic system for the two-fold purpose of showing:

1. That all who seek riches must recognize and adapt themselves to the system that controls the approaches to fortunes, large or small, and

2. To present the side of the picture opposite that being shown by politicians and critics who deliberately cloud the issues they bring up, by referring to organized capital as if it were something poisonous.

The Hand That Feeds Your Wealth

The United States is a capitalistic country, and as such it is often the target of terrorism and criticism from nations and peoples who abhor the idea of capitalism; it was developed through the use of capital, and we who claim the rights and blessings of freedom and opportunity, we who seek wealth creation in the United States or in dealings with its citizens and businesses, must face the fact that neither wealth nor opportunity would be available to us if organized capital had not provided these benefits.

Over the decades of the twentieth century, efforts were made to reorganize the American system of wealth creation in large part by individuals whose focus was to take riches away from industry by organized force of numbers, rather than implement the better method of giving a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay.

Millions of men and women throughout the nation are still engaged in this popular pastime of trying to get without giving on some level; the consequence is evident everywhere in the feelings of entitlement large portions of the populations feel are due them. But these are not emotions that are conducive to wealth creation and success in life.

Give And You Shall Receive

This is fundamental to all capitalistic money systems; as an American, Napoleon Hill spoke specifically about the U.S. system, but the lesson can be appreciated the world over—it is not necessarily restricted to the U.S. system, particularly now that we have become so globalised. In order to receive, you do need to give. You cannot enjoy the benefits of the system without a willingness to put forth an effort. Nor can you capitalise on the mindset of wealth without a willingness to put forth an effort to develop one. Once you understand this, though, there is no limit to the wealth you can create for yourself!

  4. Hi Sean, So I guess I have to possibly work out what it is that I am willing to give in return for wealth. Hopefully, I will catch on sooner or later….

    • Hi Jill,

I think that the message we should take away from the article is just as Sean put it “In order to receive, you do need to give”. When you think about this, it applies to all aspects of our lives and not just the financial spectrum.

For example. If I every receive fantastic customer service from somebody (and I mean when they go above and beyond their job desc) I make it my mission to ensure that their management is well aware. I guess this is just me playing my part in the scheme of things.

      • I’m so delighted to see that someone does this as more often than not customers call merely to complain of the lack of service and think that service beyond the norm is what they deserve and have come to expect. Highlighting the good versus the bad will only welcome more great service.

As a person working in the customer service industry I thank you!

We have to get away from this growing sense of “entitlement” and remember that everything is an exchange. And every one of us has something great to give, be it compassion, knowledge, products or others.
And it all starts in the mind – with the right mindset!

  6. It’s very much like not being able to get anywhere without taking a step in the direction. While we can sit and dream of what we want and know that we can get it, if it’s at the other side of the room the easiest way to retrieve it is to get up and walk to it.

Don’t sit and think about what you might have to give in order to get what you want – get up and get it 🙂
.-= Sarah Butland´s last blog ..I Am Attracting You and Your Vote Via Law Of Attraction =-.

    • So true Sarah, only when we take action we can achieve anything, even getting something from the other side of the room. Sitting back and demanding others to hand it to us doesn’t work.
      .-= Renee´s last blog ..Motivational Music =-.

      • Even asking politely doesn’t get the thing we want at the time we want it. The universe doesn’t just give us what we want if we think we want it, a lot of people think they want the same thing and believe they’re entitled to it but it’s those that know they need to stand up to get it can reach it.
.-= Sarah Butland´s last blog ..Attracting Good People and Good Books =-.

  7. How true is this blog – if we keep on taking and never giving, we will never amount to anything. I am not sure its a good thing we got here in Australia – you get paid by the government if you are not working. How can this motivate our young kids to get out there and find a job? Maybe America way of living is the better way? Maybe not…..Maybe we all need to give a little bit more – then we can recieve more. Sharing information is a great tool to give, receiving the help we need to move forward is a great way to live. Do we have to have advantages to succeed? Its not as important as willing to seek the information from others that helps us to succeed. Great blog -think its one of my favorites – thanks Sean for sharing.

  8. Jazz Salinger says:

    Hi Sean,

I believe that giving must come before getting. We cannot expect to have great wealth without doing the work required to create the right mindset that will allow us to do so. Everything has a price and the beauty of Capitalism is that everyone has the same chance to pay it.

We live in a free country and we can better ourselves if we choose to. There is so much free information available to anyone who is willing to search for it that will improve their lives. We all have that same opportunity to create wealth.

There are no free rides. If we want it, we are going to have to earn it.

    • Hi Jazz

I don’t think we all have the same chance or opportunity to create wealth, unfortunately. I do think things like where you’re born, into which family you’re born, greatly affects your chances and opportunity. We’re lucky in the wealthy nations, like Australia, that we all do have opportunity, yes. But people are just dealt with a different hand. I don’t believe we all start life on an equal playing field.

What’s great is when you hear the stories about those who have achieved great wealth and success, despite having come from less opportunity. They are amazing and inspiring.
.-= Lina Nguyen´s last blog ..Blog comments on steroids =-.

      • Hi Lina,

You’re absolutely right. We don’t all start life with equal chances of success. As an adult, we can’t help what situation we were born into, but we can choose for ourselves what our destiny will be.

We certainly didn’t get the same opportunities as children, but as adults there is a plethora of free information available to help us improve our lives and be successful. The information is out there and we are all free to take advantage of it. If we choose to.
.-= Jazz Salinger´s last blog ..Finding Your Passion =-.

      • I disagree with this – wow, I know! I think some people who are born into wealth have it easier to be successful than those economically disadvantaged but we all have it in us to be great.

Those who are at a disadvantage can use that to their advantage isn’t of dwelling in the idea of it not being fair that someone was born to wealth and they weren’t. We’re all born with basically the same knowledge and with primarily the same experiences (of course there’s horrific exceptions to this) and we all deserve what we want to have.

I know we all have a right to what we want to have, deep down, and it’s up to us, not our circumstances, to define what that is.
.-= Sarah Butland´s last blog ..Kelly Moran Took Me On Summer’s Road =-.

        • I agree and disagree with you Sarah! We aren’t all born with basically the same knowledge – think of those kids in the Congo forced to be soldiers or those in Dhafur or a tribe in the Amazon. Culture plays a big part.

But yes, those born to wealth have it easier to progress to more. For us though, yes, it is up to us.

  9. Abundance and wealth also come in many forms, and at times many people forget this in the quest to be the wealthiest. Always remember to be grateful for life no matter what is thrown at it. Challenges often give rise to possibilities, if one is open to seeing them.
    Cheers

  10. I’ve discovered when I am best meeting my challenges, I am focussed on making the most of the opportunity to give of myself. Its often a joy to discover there are new things I have to give.
.-= Jo Carey-Bradshaw´s last blog ..Empowering Mindset – Mindfulness =-.

  11. Hi Camil,
I’ve always been a giver. I enjoy giving to people but possibly I haven’t given to the right people…..

I think I’m not wealthy because I haven’t thought about me enough and what it is that I want. I’ve read that some of the wealth creation secrets are that you pay yourself first. Like the example in The Richest Man In Babylon. This is probably where I went wrong in the past.
