Mindset Mastery 124 – The Mind’s Workshop

This post starts the next chapter in Napoleon Hill’s updated classic, Think and Grow Rich (which we’ve titled Mindset Mastery to reflect its power and modernisation). This next chapter begins a very exciting part of the book wherein we take on the possibilities of the mind and imagination. It’s very aptly titled,

“IMAGINATION – THE WORKSHOP OF THE MIND”

And it introduces us to the fifth step in creating wealth.

“The Fifth Step Toward Riches”

The imagination is literally the workshop wherein all the plans created by men and women are constructed. The impulse, the desire, is given shape, form, and action through the aid of the imaginative faculty of the mind.

It has been said that man can create anything he can imagine.

Of all the ages of civilization, this is the most favorable for the development of the imagination, because it is an age of rapid change. On every hand one may contact stimuli which develop the imagination.

Imagination Harnesses Power

Through the aid of his imaginative faculty, man has discovered, and harnessed, more of Nature’s forces during the past one hundred fifty years than during the entire history of the human race previous to that time. He has conquered the air so completely that birds are a poor match for him in flying. He has harnessed the air around him and made it serve as a means of instantaneous communication with any part of the world. He has analyzed and weighed the sun at a distance of millions of miles, and has determined, through the aid of imagination, the elements it consists of. He has discovered that his own brain is both a broadcasting and a receiving station for the vibration of thought, and he is beginning now to learn how to make practical use of this discovery. He has increased the speed of travel so that he is now able to at a speed of hundreds of miles an hour.

Man’s only limitation, within reason, lies in his development and use of his imagination. He has not yet reached the apex of development in the use of his imaginative faculty. He has merely discovered that he has an imagination, and has started to use it in a very elementary way.

Breaking Limits

As humans our only limitation is the limit we place on our own minds and imaginations. Sure, as Hill says, we may not have yet unlocked all the future potential of the human mind, but few of us have even utilised the potential we do have available to us. Unlock your mind and unlock your potential—and your financially free, fulfilling future!

  1. Great Post Sean,
I have been working through some mind set issues that both David and I have placed on ourselves….and it is interesting to see what limitation we are having. It is all about breaking through the ceiling to the other side…and it is happening for us, we are breaking free and we will be financially free.
I have a specific image in my head of how much money is coming our way. And it is not about the money, its about what we can do with our life because of the freedom of time.
It is all about the mindset.
    Cheers

    Sean,

This seemed to be the only way that I could contact you, so here goes!

I’ve had Think & Grow Rich for quite a few years, but I never really “got it”. I got Mindset Mastery about 18 months ago & it still didn’t “click” so I forgot about it.

Since my accident I’ve learnt & become a believer in mindset, but I’ve only just realised how extremely powerful it is!

I had the urge to read Mindset Mastery again so I found it. As soon as I read the the first paragraph of the first chapter the penny dropped (so to speak) & obviously I was ready!

I’m soooo excited now that I know!!!

Anyway, THANKYOU so much for being the messenger (conduit) who introduced me another important chapter in my life.

    Thanks again.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Smiles,

    Jen 🙂

  3. Thanks Jenny
I’m pleased you have benefited from the book. That is good news indeed!

  4. Hi Sean,
For a few years now I have been aware how important it is to have the correct mindset for a better way of thinking in a more positive light.

The readings you have here on Mindset Mastery, are helping me to “get it” all over again. To have the right mindset. A mindset that I need to be able to continue learning and, building on a better way towards the perfect lifestyle.

    Thanks Sean, 🙂

  5. With everything that humans have achieved, I wonder why there are still naysayers who say things can’t be done.

If we can put a man on the moon, create this amazing communication tool called the internet and build planes, huge buildings and great walls… What can’t we do if we put our minds to it?

“Imagination: The Workshop of the Mind” – nice one.

    • Hi Lina,
I think the naysayers are still around because it is much easier to stick with what you have and know than to try something new and be open. They prefer to stay in their comfort zone and want everybody else to be the same.

    Hi Sean,

I agree that the limits we have are the ones that we place on ourselves. However, I think we’re stuck with those limitations until we’re ready to work on developing our mindset so that we can create for ourselves the future of our dreams.

I think it’s vitally important that we are able to imagine a better life but we also need to have the mindset necessary to make it a reality.

  7. It’s funny. As kids we can imagine everything. A carton becomes an airplane and a bit of sand becomes a castle. Over time we “learn” to be “realistic” and “stop dreaming”. And now we try to re-learn exactly these qualities.

Instead of telling our kids not to dream, lets help them to realize them and make sure they know that it is possible if they are willing to do what it takes.
    .-= Renee´s last blog ..Motivational Music =-.

    • Hi Renee,

I hope that we’re learning to encourage our children to dream. It’s the dreamers who create so many wonderful things that change our world.

I think we didn’t let our children be dreamers because it was always thought that to be successful in life you had to get a job and work hard. The kids who spent all their time looking out the window weren’t seen to have the right work ethic.

Now we know how valuable the dreamers are. They’re the ones we all want to be. 🙂

  8. Hello Sean,

I like how you say we have yet to unlock our full potential. I am learning that everyday, with studying here online and offline. The imagnination is only limited to what we know. If we are more educated in all aspects of life, image what we could achieve in one day? “Unlock Your Mind and Unlock Your Potential” – Yes, every single day that I wake up I am so grateful to be able to do that.

    Thanks for The Minds workshop.
    Cheers

  9. Hi Sean

Because we live in a dualistic world (day/night, summer/winter,growth/decay etc) we need to accept this is the way of our majestically mysterious world.

We need to have the dreamers and the imaginative, and we also need to have the practical and the business minded. As an artist I met many truly talented artists who never made it in the big time art world because they had no business acumen and I know of mediocre even not so talented artists who made it big in the art world because they had excellent entrepreneurial skills.

We need the dreamers and the image makers and there are plenty around, but someone has to produce our food in a factory, drive the bus, clean the public toilets… and on the weekends our corporate workers, labourers etc can go and enjoy the art galleries, plays, movies and music concerts!

    • Hi Elly,

We definitely need both kinds of people in the world. We all need to be aware of what our limitations are so that we can find solutions for them.

This is why you have to partner with someone who has the opposite skill set or mindset to you if you want to be successful. This is the value of being in a Master Mind group. Henry Ford didn’t know all the answers but he made sure he had the right people around him.

  10. Our imaginations are truly inspiring.. When we have a problem it is our imagination which solves it..Our imagination is the creative part of us.

If there is a challenge we need to meet and are not sure how then we only have to give over that challenge to our creative minds..When your creative mind has the solution for you it gives an intuitive nudge with the answer… amazing..try it..
